  • Inter have taken 40 points from a possible 45 over their last fifteen Serie A matches, this has seen a return of 36 goals and just 9 goals conceded.

  • Federico Dimarco has registered 8 assists and 1 goal in his last five Serie A appearances, a monumental return for wing-back.

  • Inter haven’t been defeated in Serie A since the 23rd November, a 1-0 defeat against AC Milan.

Inter Milan to Win @ 1.33

It’s been a tough week for Inter Milan, they were humbled by Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League and ended up losing both legs and 5-2 on aggregate. Despite their defeat in midweek, they still recorded a whopping 30 shots and 16 corners, their dominance in terms of possession and territory couldn’t be questioned.

Inter are riding the crest of a wave in Serie A. The title race was looking so tight in the first three months of the season, but Inter have pulled away after picking up a fantastic 40 points from 15 games, only dropping five points in the process. Inter have now won seven consecutive Serie A matches.

Genoa’s recent form has been largely symbolic of a mid table team over the last 5-10 games. They’ve had a tendency to pick up more favourable results against the weaker sides in the division, but have often ended up defeated against the better-performing sides.

Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.72

One might argue Inter Milan could be a slightly wounded animal after their exertions in midweek, and this will potentially make them a dangerous proposition. Ultimately, they have the home advantage, and after being toppled by Bodo/Glimt in midweek, they will have a point to prove to the home fans.

Genoa’s last three Serie A defeats have featured a cumulative 14 goals, with over 2.5 goals landing in each of them, this was all against noteworthy opposition in the form of Roma, Napoli, and Lazio. Six of Inter’s last seven home wins have featured over 2.5 goals, there have only been two instances this season where Inter home wins have featured under 2.5 goals, that goes for all competitions.

Inter have scored 36 goals across their 13 Serie A home matches this season, an average of 2.77 per game. However, they haven’t been watertight at the back, they’ve still conceded 12 goals across those 13 home games. This has resulted in an average of 3.69 total goals in their home games.

Federico Dimarco to Score or Assist @ 1.95

Dimarco has become Inter’s creative jewel this season, his creative output is higher than previous seasons, and there’s an emphasis on getting the ball wide to him at every available opportunity. Denzel Dumfries has been injured over the last three months, and this has massively increased the need to utilise Dimarco down the channels and on the left -and side of the pitch.

Dimarco’s creative numbers in Serie A are crazy, he’s currently averaging a cross 10 times per 90 minutes, and this has converted into a successful cross 3.37 times per 90. It’s, therefore, no surprise he’s managed 14 assists in 24 Serie A outings.

However, Dimarco doesn’t just offer a creative threat, he also offers a goal threat, exemplified by his five Serie A goals this season. Typically, Dimarco plays more like a winger than a wing-back, it’,s therefore, not a coincidence he’s averaging 2.28 shots per 90, an extremely high number for a player utilised as a wing back. Dimaro has now scored or assisted in each of Inter Milan’s last five Serie A matches.

Marcus Thuram to have 3+ Shots @ 1.36

Thuram should be a major focal point in Inter Milan’s attack. He plays as one of the two strikers; he’s perfectly capable of occupying more central areas and wide areas. Thuram also provides an aerial threat in the box. Inter’s tactics heavily involve getting the ball to wide areas and putting crosses in.

His shooting numbers across the season have been eye-catching; he is averaging 3.64 shots per 90 in Serie A, and 4.44 shots per 90 in the Champions League. Thuram’s numbers have also been fairly consistent in recent Serie A outings; he’s now managed 3+ shots in four of his last five matches.

Genoa have conceded 95 shots across their last five away games, an average of 19 shots per game.

📈 Inter Milan v Genoa Form & Stats

Inter Milan have endured a sobering week after being unexpectedly knocked out of the Champions League by Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt. Despite those defeats in both legs of the tie, Inter have actually been in phenomenal league form. The hosts have taken 28 points from their last 10 Serie A games, their only blip was a 2-2 draw against Napoli.

Such has been their prolific form, they’re now marching towards the title and find themselves 10 points clear. Initially, during the first three months of the season, Serie A was extremely tight towards the top of the league, and it was ambiguous to pick a winner.

Genoa's form line is very reflective of a mid table side, they’ve taken seven points from their last five games, winning twice, losing twice, and drawing once. However, two consecutive clean sheets may provide some confidence ahead of this one.

Genoa currently sit in 14th place, but they are only three points clear of Lecce in 18th place, relegation is still a possibility they will need to guard against. Things have been generally pretty miserable on the road; Genoa have taken just 11 points from twelve away matches, and have gone winless in their last five.

📔 Inter Milan v Genoa Formation & Team News

Much like Simone Inzaghi, Cristian Chivu has also adopted a 3-5-2 at Inter Milan. There are some stylistic differences, though. Chivu has pulled Inter’s backline further forward, looking to engage the opposition higher up the pitch and press aggressively. It’s been a high-risk and high-reward strategy, with the team putting up better attacking numbers, but a susceptibility to the counter-attack has left them short against better quality opposition.

Inter will be without Lautaro Martinez, while Hakan Calhanoglu is an injury doubt. Alessandro Bastoni misses out because of yellow card accumulation.

Daniele De Rossi’s Genoa primarily utilise a 3-5-2 formation. De Rossi’s style has been praised for revitalising the team’s attitude and bringing a more modern, pro-active approach to the club.

Genoa are pretty lucky on the injury front; they have no confirmed absentees, but Brooke Norton-Cuffy may miss out after picking up a knock.
