Thursday Evening sees an intriguing clash for Day 4 of the World Grand Prix between two former champions of the event. Gerwyn Price claimed the Grand Prix trophy back in 2020, only a few months before he won his World Championship. James Wade is a two-time winner of this event, the last being in 2010. The Two last faced off only two weeks ago in Basel Switzerland where Wade walked away a 6-4 winner.

Gerwyn Price v James Wade Best Bets
🎯 Gerwyn Price to Hit the Most 180s
Look for Gerwyn Price to produce more 180s than that of James Wade when the pair square off in the second round of the World Grand Prix on Thursday night. ‘The Iceman’ has been the more prolific maximum hitter of the two players over the past 12 months, amassing an overall tally of 452. That return has Price ranked 13th overall in the PDC across the last year, while Wade is further back in 46th place with a tally of 271.
‘The Machine’ tends to be solid rather than spectacular, as was the case in his round one win over Peter Wright. He managed just one maximum when seeing off Snakebite, while Price racked up four in his opening victory over Danny Noppert. With the Welshman being the more dependable of the duo when it comes to hitting 180s, backing Price to ‘out max’ Wade holds plenty of appeal.
🎯 Over 3.5 Gerwyn Price 180s
On a similar line of reasoning to some of the above, Gerwyn Price looks well placed to deliver over 3.5 180s during his round two clash with James Wade.
As already mentioned, Price is one of the most reliable arrowsmiths across the entire PDC when it comes to filling up the treble 20 bed. ‘The Iceman’ covered this proposed line during his round one win over Danny Noppert on Tuesday night.
It’s also worth pointing out that Price produced five 180s when overcoming Krzysztof Ratajski 3-0 at this stage of the competition 12 months ago. Price’s second round clash with James Wade this year is likely to be a much closer affair, so it should feature more than three sets. As such, there is plenty of scope for Price to supply us with another four maximums on Thursday night.
