Not too much football on tonight but I stumbled across this game in La Liga which looks perfect for a cards fest and tempted me into a player bookings bet builder this evening. Both sides currently occupy positions in the relegation zone and this very much has the looks of a relegation ‘six-pointer’ making a fiery affair all the more likely. Both sides are renowned for being quite feisty in their native Spain and no surprise to see these sides have received a joint league-high 34 cards apiece.
The game is to be officiated by Adrian Cordego Vega who it has to be said hasn’t been shy of dishing out a card or two so far this season. He is averaging a massive 6.2 YCPG and given the aggression, these two sides tend to show I expect plenty to be brandished in Granada this evening. Below are my three favourite players to get into the referee’s notebook tonight and using my trusty card sheet along with extra research hopefully we can get ourselves another winner.
Granada v Getafe Bet Builder Tips
Angel Montoro to be Booked v Getafe
Let’s kick things off with Granada central midfielder Angel Montoro. The experienced Spaniard has spent his whole professional career in Spain and is renowned for being a bit of a menace. A hefty 110 career yellow cards in just 337 appearances is quite some going. To put that into further context, he has around double the amount of yellow cards in his senior career than he does goals and assists combined (57). For someone of that age and that many appearances to still average pretty much a card every 3 games is quite some going and no surprise to see him rank so highly in the card sheet.
Referencing the card sheet, it is worth noting that Montoro has struggled a little with injury this season which is why he doesn’t feature in this season’s statistics. However he ranks highly in the card stats from both last season and his career average of 0.43 is quite extraordinary given the amount of games the 33 year old has played. Looks an ideal candidate for a card tonight.

Mauro Arambarri to be Booked v Granada
To a Getafe player next and Uruguayan international Mauro Arambarri has caught my eye. He is highly thought of in European football and at times this summer was linked with moves to both Manchester United and Valencia who could use his dogged determination in the centre of the park. Some of his numbers in La Liga were pretty crazy, he picked up 11 bookings last season – the second most of any midfielder in La Liga. He won 57 tackles. This is the third highest of all players in La Liga. He also made 699 ‘pressures’ when out of possession which is the second highest in La Liga. Now I think you are starting to see why I fancy him for a card tonight!
His card sheet stats are unsurprisingly impressive and I am expecting him to have a massive battle in the middle of the park with the likes of Montoro and Ruben Rochina. You can see he averages around 0.33 YCPG across this season, last season and his career as a whole and I fancy him to pick one up once again tonight!

Stefan Mitrovic to be Booked v Granada
For my final selection I will focus on Getafe and Serbian defender Stefan Mitrovic. He joined the club from French side Strasbourg this summer and you might notice as a result he doesn’t feature on either this seasons or last season’s high ranking players on the card sheet. He isn’t really a regular in all honesty but is fully expected to start tonight and replace the suspended Djene in the Getafe backline. You might recognise the name as the defender is the man who controversially ‘cleared’ the ball off the line to deny Cristiano Ronaldo a clear last minute winner when Serbia faced Portugal back in March.
He is the definition of an ‘old school’ central defender and loves to be aggressive and challenge the opposition centre forward at any given opportunity. He had a previous spell in La Liga back in 2014 with Real Valladolid and it is a league he has traditionally struggled in. Nine yellow cards in his 22 La Liga appearances to date make for impressive reading and given his lack of minutes this season. I expect him to be rusty and potentially rash in the challenge. Odds are particularly generous on Mitrovic and he is my final bet builder pick to be carded this evening.
