Harrogate can reach the top half of League Two with a win here, whilst Crewe will land back in the top six by taking maximum points from this fixture. There is much to play for in North Yorkshire on Monday as Harrogate look to build on back-to-back league wins that arrested a slide into the lower regions of the league.

Harrogate Town v Crewe

League Two

Harrogate Town Double Chance

I am surprised by the difference between the odds of the two teams here. Whilst I would accept that Crewe should probably be favourites, and I would rate their team higher than Harrogate, and would have them favourites on neutral ground, there is either too much discrepancy in the ratings between the two, or too little home advantage added into Harrogate’s price here.

Harrogate are a difficult team to predict. They are usually residents in the bottom half, and usually possess some of the poorest data in the league as well. However, this does not always translate into poor results, indeed, Harrogate are coming into the match in good form, as we will assess in a minute, and certainly in better form than their opponents here.

There are also a lot of positives in Harrogate’s home data. They've generated over 1 xG in every home game this season, in other words, they should always be expected to score at least once based on early season home displays. Harrogate are averaging 1.52 xG and conceding 1.43 xG across their home league games so far, so getting 1.62 about a draw and a Harrogate win looks too big.

Crewe started exceptionally well away from home this season, winning impressively at Salford and Fleetwood, but have lost at Gillingham and Barrow since, and drawn 1-1 at Colchester. They lost the xG battle convincingly at Gillingham and Colchester, and I would be surprised if they are able to put distance between themselves and Harrogate from a performance/expected goals perspective in this match.

📈 Harrogate Town v Crewe Form & Stats

Harrogate have won four of their last five matches in all competitions, including their last two in the league. All of their matches have been by narrow margins, they have managed to keep four clean sheets in those wins, despite conceding a total of 6.6 xG in those matches.

Harrogate have only generated 10.3 xG in the league this season, good enough for only 22nd in the league, but they are 15th for shots on target, within a single shot of Crewe in that metric. A clue as to Harrogate’s good defensive record is explained by the fact that they are top of the league in tackles won and clearances made.

Crewe have managed to reflect their whole 2024/25 season in microcosm at the beginning of the 2025/26 season. They won their first four matches to sit top of the league, then went five without a win, losing four of those matches, before recovering with a win at home to Notts County last time out.

Perhaps understandably when taking this into account, Crewe’s overall stats even themselves out around mid table. They are ranked 12th (matching their league position) for xG created, 9th for shots on target, and 15th for big chances created. They are 14th for xG conceded, and, interestingly, they are top of the league in one metric, fouls per match, with 14.6 per match.
