Over 3.5 Hearts Goals

No team has scored more goals than Hearts (12) across the opening three matchdays of the Scottish League Cup group phase. Derek McInnes’ men have hit exactly four goals in each of their opening three victories, and they are more than capable of repeating the trick on Wednesday night. A home game with Dumbarton represents Hearts’ easiest Group E assignment on paper, and I'm not expecting them to take their foot off the gas in their pursuit of maximum points.

Dumbarton shipped four goals when losing to Dunfermline on Saturday and it will be an even tougher test for Stevie Farrell and his side at Tynecastle.

Both Teams to Score - No

The Jam Tarts kept both Hamilton and Stirling Albion quiet and they should have limited defensive work to get through on Wednesday night against a Dumbarton side that failed to lay a glove on Dunfermline in their last outing.

  • Hearts have won each of their opening three matches in Scottish League Cup Group E.

  • Hearts have scored four goals in each of their opening three matches in Scottish League Cup Group E.

  • Dumbarton suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat at home to Scottish Championship side Dunfermline on Saturday.

Hearts will look to rubber-stamp top spot in Scottish League Cup Group E when they play host to Dumbarton on Wednesday night. With three divisions separating the two teams, it’s no surprise to see Hearts as heavy 1.04 favourites. Meanwhile, Dumbarton are huge outsiders at 51.0, and the draw is also considered improbable at 15.0.

🟤 Hearts Motoring Under McInnes

Derek McInnes has enjoyed a dream start to life in the Hearts dugout. The former Kilmarnock and Aberdeen boss has won each of his opening three matches in charge, defeating fellow Group E foes Dunfermline, Hamilton, and Stirling. As already mentioned, the Jam Tarts have scored four goals in each of those three victories, keeping two clean sheets for good measure.

The capital club will be keen to continue building momentum ahead of their Scottish Premiership opener with Aberdeen early next month.

Sons Set For Another Heavy Defeat

After kicking off their Scottish League Cup campaign with a 1-0 win over Stirling last midweek, Dumbarton were brought back down to earth with a bump when losing 4-0 at home to Dunfermline on Saturday. Now faced with a pair of away days at Hearts and then Hamilton, another couple of heavy defeats isn't beyond the realms of possibility, particularly at high-flying Hearts on Wednesday night.

📊 Hearts v Dumbarton H2H

Competitive contests between Hearts and Dumbarton have been few and far between over the last decade. In fact, you have to go back to season 2014-15 for the last non-friendly fixture between the pair.

The two teams met four times in the Scottish Championship that season, with Hearts claiming a trio of landslide victories while the other encounter ended goalless.
