Hibernian and Legia Warsaw will lock horns in the first leg of their Europa Conference League play-off tie at Easter Road on Thursday night. Here are my two best bets for the match.

Hibernian Double Chance

After pushing FC Midtjylland all the way over two legs in a Europa League qualifier, I think that Hibernian are worthy of support in the Double Chance market. David Gray’s side have lost just once in front of their own supporters since way back in November of last year, avoiding defeat against both Celtic and Rangers in the process.

While Hibs lost inside 90 minutes to Partizan Belgrade last week, I think that they struggled with the pressure of having to defend a first leg lead, something that they will not have to worry about here.

Legia Warsaw have struggled away from home in Europe this season, drawing 2-2 at Baník Ostrava before suffering a heavy 4-1 defeat in Cyprus against AEK Larnaca.

Hibernian Over 4.5 Corners

In front of what will be a raucous Easter Road crowd, I would expect Hibs to earn a minimum of five corners on Thursday night. The Hibees will look to play on the front foot and focus heavily on getting the ball wide, which should see them rack up plenty of corners.

David Gray’s side covered the 5+ corner line in each leg of their 3rd round qualifier with Partizan Belgrade, hitting six away from home before earning five at Easter Road last Thursday. It's also worth noting that Hibs hit a whopping 11 corners away at Dundee on the opening day of the Scottish Premiership season, while they delivered nine on the road at Livingston last time out.

As for Legia Warsaw, they had to defend seven corners in their last continental away day at AEK Larnaca.

🟢 No Hangover For Hibs

Following their exploits last Thursday night, I thought Hibs might have had a difficult time of things away at Livingston in the Scottish League Cup on Sunday. However, David Gray’s side showed their mettle to come through that tie with a 2-0 success. The underlying data would suggest that Hibs were worthy winners, enjoying 55% possession and hitting the target with seven of their 10 attempts on goal.

That victory was made all the more impressive by the fact that Hibs boss Gray made six changes to his starting XI. Thus, the hosts should come into this week’s first leg as the fresher of the two sides.

Legia Struggling For Consistency

Legia Warsaw have dropped down into the Europa Conference League play-off round after suffering a 5-3 aggregate defeat to AEK Larnaca in the 3rd round of Europa League qualifiers.

As for the domestic scene, Eduard Iordanescu’s side have made a sticky start to the new season, winning just two of their opening four Polish top-flight matches of the campaign. The Militarians’ preparations for this week’s first leg were far from ideal, falling to a 1-0 loss away at Wisla Plock on Sunday night. That defeat means Legia have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last four matches across all competitions.

📊 Hibernian v Legia Warsaw H2H

Hibernian and Legia Warsaw will go head-to-head for the first time ever on Thursday night, before contesting next week’s return match in the Polish capital.
