MONTASSIB went into plenty of notebooks after a decisive handicap victory at Goodwood back in May. He followed up with a close-up fifth in the Buckingham Palace Stakes Handicap at Royal Ascot, prior to an excellent fourth in a strong event on the July course here. A subsequent fourth at the Shergar Cup meeting at Ascot may have appeared a below par effort but he was hitting the line powerfully over this trip after being shuffled too far back.
