📈 Millwall v Hull Form & Stats
Millwall ended the regular season strongly, winning three of their last four Championship matches to finish 3rd in the standings, but that was still not enough for them to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League, and they missed out by just one point to Ipswich.
However, Millwall are still in a strong position coming into this second leg, knowing that if they win they will face either Middlesbrough or Southampton at Wembley in the final. Alex Neil’s men come into this clash having won their last two matches at The Den, both of which were by a 2-0 scoreline. However, this match promises to be a tougher contest, especially considering how Hull won 3-1 at The Den in the regular season.
With that being said, Femi Azeez was sent off in that game, which played a big role, and Hull’s recent form hasn't been as positive. The Tigers barely scraped play-off qualification, as they beat Norwich 2-1 on the final day to secure 6th. That match ended a six-game winless run. Hull weren’t at their best in the first leg, and they failed to make their home advantage count, which puts Millwall in the driving seat here.
📔 Millwall v Hull Formation & Team News
Alex Neil is expected to name an unchanged XI, with Josh Coburn set to lead the line once again. Camiel Neghli looks set to continue in his advanced midfield role, with Femi Azeez providing support from the right flank. Neil does have a decision to make on the left, where Alfie Doughty could come into contention to replace Zak Sturge, but Cooper and Tristan Crama should continue at the heart of defence.
Sergej Jakirovic will have to do without Cody Drameh, Eliot Matazo, Toby Collyer and Amir Hadziahmetovic, who all remain sidelined. Oli McBurnie looks set to lead the line once again, with the key selection decision being whether Joe Gelhardt retains his place in an advanced midfield spot, or whether Crooks is pushed higher to allow John Lundstram to return to the midfield pivot. Lewie Coyle should continue at right back, with Ryan Giles on the opposite flank.
