Our horse racing expert, Dave Revers, has provided three tips ahead of Sunday's Irish Derby at the Curragh.

Dave enjoyed an excellent Royal Ascot, most notably tipping a 25/1 winner on Day 2 of the meeting - he's looking to continue his good form here.

Lambourn to Win

This year’s G1 Epsom Derby hero, LAMBOURN, is likely to follow-up in the Irish equivalent, if able to replicate his excellent form. The son of Australia found a lovely rhythm out in front, having been ridden from the stalls at Epsom.

He maintained a big lead, sweeping around Tattenham corner, and displayed excellent stamina to win comfortably at the line. An uncomplicated runner, he is also a tenacious type, who ought to be well-suited to the demands of Curragh - a galloping track.

Tennessee Stud to Win

TENNESSEE STUD could offer the biggest threat to Lambourn, as the ante-post betting suggests. The Joseph O’Brien-trained Wootton Bassett cold can have his third behind Lambourn certainly upgrade at Epsom, considering he came from a long way back to reach the placings.

He flew home down the rail, suggesting the switch to Curragh could prove wise, as a more galloping track.

Puppet Master E/W

Aidan O’Brien also runs PUPPET MASTER, who was successful in the Listed Lingfield Derby Trial Stakes, back in May. He had to fight to win that day, showing tenacity, finishing three-and-a-half lengths in front of Nightime Dancer.

The latter subsequently finished a fair eighth in the Epsom Derby, which boosts confidence. It would be folly to dismiss his claims at an each-way price, as a thoroughly unexposed type, trained by a sensational trainer.
