Juventus v Wydad

🗓️

Kick Off: Sunday 22nd June at 17:00

🏆

Competition: FIFA Club World Cup

Juventus will be looking to secure their progression to the knockout stages after their 5-0 win over Al Ain in their opening game of the Club World Cup. Igor Tudor’s side were more than comfortable in their opening day victory, having 16 shots with seven of those attempts finding the target.

Wydad Casablanca put in a pretty decent performance against Manchester City in their opening game, with many expecting a much more one-sided scoreline, but the Moroccan side managed to manage City’s threat pretty effectively, especially in the second half - losing 2-0.

Francisco Conceicao to Score or Assist

Conceicao was Juventus’ standout player in their 5-0 win over Al Ain on the opening day of the season. He netted a brace in a Player of the Match performance, finding the target twice from his three shots in the game. Conceicao should be able to use his performance against Al Ain as a platform to push on and continue to be an important player for Juventus at the Club World Cup.

Conceicao registered nine goal contributions across his 37 appearances for Juventus in all competitions during the 24/25 season, which is a tally that he will be looking to improve on for next season, given the talent he has. Conceicao also showed his quality in Portugal’s recent Nations League final success, scoring an important goal against Germany off the bench to secure their progression to the final of the competition, one that Portugal would go on to win.

Conceicao’s bright start to the tournament should give him a platform to register another goal contribution as Juventus look to guarantee their spot in the knockout stages of the competition. Juventus have a bright attacking line with Randal Kolo Muani and Kenan Yildiz supporting Conceicao, which gives him options to pick out for an assist here - the winger averaged 1.88 chances created per 90 during the 24/25 Serie A season.

Gatti came on for the final 19 minutes of Juventus’ 5-0 win over Al Ain at the Club World Cup. He committed a foul and was shown a yellow card in that period and looks well placed to commit another foul in this encounter against Wydad Casablanca who showed against Manchester City that they can offer an attacking threat, as demonstrated by the 12 shots they managed against Pep Guardiola’s side.

Gatti committed 20 fouls across his 30 appearances in Serie A during the 24/25 season (0.82 per 90), which is a record that suggests that Gatti will be roped into committing another foul in his second appearance at the Club World Cup.

💻 Juventus v Wydad Form and Tactics

Juventus were excellent in their 5-0 victory over Al Ain in the opening game of the Club World Cup. Igor Tudor’s side combined their attacking flair with a clear structure that was effective in stifling their opponents. They will face tougher tests in the tournament, but this is a real opportunity for Juventus to wrap up the group before facing Manchester City in the final game, a game that they will be able to rotate for if progression to the knockout stages is secured.

Juventus have quite a promising front three in Kenan Yildiz, Randal Kolo Muani and Conceicao, who linked up really well in the opening game. This could develop into a really exciting attacking trio if the three players can play regularly together over the course of this tournament and heading into next season. Khephren Thuram was also pretty impressive in the opening fixture, picking up two assists inside the 45 minutes he was on the pitch.

Wydad certainly put in a better performance than many expected against Manchester City and were unlucky not to score from one of their 12 shots in the game. The Moroccan side were particularly effective in transition, though it is unclear whether this was because of Manchester City’s inability to control this part of the game over the last season or the fact that they are a better side than many have given them credit for.
