📈 Bolton v Stockport Form & Tactics
Lincoln and Cardiff pulled away at the top of the League One standings in the regular season to take the automatic promotion spots, but it was very close between the next six teams. Stockport finished 3rd, and they put in a dominant performance over Stevenage in the semi-finals, making them worthy finalists here. Their form towards the end of the regular season was mixed, with two wins, two losses and a draw in their final five games, but that play-off semi-final performance will give them confidence. Stockport have plenty of experience in their ranks, which will be important to utilise in this final at Wembley.
Bolton also finished the regular season poorly, as they won just one of their final six matches. However, that didn’t phase them in the semi-finals, as they cruised past Bradford City with successive 1-0 victories. 18 of Bolton’s 46 matches ended in a draw - no other side in the division was involved in more stalemates, which shows how Bolton can be quite a resilient side.
📔 Bolton v Stockport Formation & Team News
Dave Challinor is expected to name an unchanged XI from the side that dispatched Stevenage last time out. Corey Addai should start in goal behind a back four of Josh Dacres-Cogley, Kyle Wootton, Ethan Pye and Tayo Edun. Oliver Norwood and Odin Bailey should continue as the double pivot, with Ben Osborn playing in a more advanced zone. Louie Barry and Josh Stokes should occupy the flanks in support of Adama Sidibeh through the middle in forward areas.
Steven Schumacher has one concern to deal with, as his captain Eoin Toal had to be replaced in the first half against Bradford last time out. He looks set to join Johnny Kenny in the treatment room, so Max Conway should deputise at the back alongside Chris Forino. Cozier-Duberry is expected to occupy his usual position on the left wing, with Ibrahim Cissoko on the opposite flank. Erhahon looks set to continue in midfield alongside Josh Sheehan.
