9/1 Leicester v Southampton Punt
🟨 Wilfried Ndidi to be shown a card
- Wilfried Ndidi had generally stayed fairly clear of cards as he has been used in a more attacking role this season. However, come the crunch, Ndidi has had yellow cards in consecutive matches leading into this one, and it is now too late for a cumulative yellow card ban, so Ndidi is free to be as physical as he wants to be within the realms of the laws, of course.
- Speaking of which, Ndidi has committed 13 fouls in his last 11 matches, albeit he got a yellow card against West Brom without actually committing a foul.
- It is of utmost importance that Leicester do not just let Southampton dictate in the midfield and Ndidi will be key to preventing that from happening.
🛑 Hamza Choudhury to commit 2+ fouls
- Leicester manager Enzo Maresca has been using the midfielder at right-back as a tactical ploy, but from that position, Hamza Choudhury has a remarkable recent foul record. If Maresca sticks with this line-up from the West Brom match, Choudhury is great value for two or more fouls, he managed five on Saturday.
- His five previous starts at right-back before Saturday have read 3 fouls, 0, 5, 2, and 1, which makes it four out of his last six starts at right-back that have covered the suggested bet here.
🎯 Adam Armstrong to have 1+ shot on target
- Adam Armstrong is Southampton’s most consistent goal threat and is priced up at backable odds for a shot on target here.
- Saints will have their fair share of the game, whilst Leicester do restrict their opponents well at home, Southampton are one of the best attacking teams in the league and Armstrong is a big proponent of shooting.
- Armstrong has hit 133 shots this season, second only to Morgan Whittaker, who has converted to 53 shots on target, the third highest in the league, and an average of 1.23 per match.
17/1 Leicester v Southampton Punt
🤝🏻 Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to assist anytime
- Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has a 0.34 expected assists (xA) per 90 ratio for Leicester this season, so his odds to have an assist here seem fair given the circumstances.
- The midfielder will be likely to play most of the minutes here and he will need a big performance to try and secure this promotion to the Premier League. He has 13 assists in 39.2 90s so far, which means that his data matches up pretty well with his actual assist numbers.
- With Wilfried Ndidi and either Harry Winks or Hamza Choudhury providing good stability in the Leicester midfield, Dewsbury-Hall should be able to roam closer to the front and provide those key passes as well as his set-piece delivery.
🟨 Kyle Walker-Peters to be shown a card
- The Southampton right-back has only been cautioned four times this season so far but does have a higher foul count (32) than the likes of Jan Bednarek, Will Smallbone, Ryan Manning, and Stuart Armstrong, all of whom have more yellow cards than Walker-Peters so far this season.
- He will also be up against Stephy Mavididi, who was a massive thorn in the side of Southampton in the reverse fixture and will be a match for Walker-Peters for pace and athleticism.
🛑 Wout Faes to commit 1+ foul
- The Belgian central defender with the distinctive hairstyle was deployed at left-back for the West Brom game. It is difficult to work out who might play there in this match with Callum Doyle and James Justin also in contention, but Faes is priced up attractively.
- Even if he plays in central defence there is a good chance of Faes picking up a foul, but it would be preferable to see him at left-back because Kyle Walker-Peters has been fouled 77 times this season, almost twice a game.
- Faes has six fouls in four starts at left-back which makes his price here look attractive for a bet builder.
