RB Leipzig booked a spot in the DFB Pokal quarter-finals midweek, as they eased past Magdeburg by a 3-1 scoreline.

That result made it six wins from six at the Red Bull Arena this season, and Frankfurt face the daunting trip to Leipzig on Saturday evening, hoping to put an end to that streak.

📈 RB Leipzig v Eintracht Frankfurt Form & Stats

Following their elimination from the DFB Pokal in the round of 32, Frankfurt had the midweek free to rest and prepare for this fixture. At the weekend, they were fortunate to take a point from Wolfsburg, as a controversial 96th-minute penalty from Michy Batshuayi levelled the score, meaning Frankfurt are now six games unbeaten in the league.

The Eagles are battling up in seventh in the Bundesliga standings, currently one point off the European spots, so have plenty to play for. However, they have struggled in the Champions League, and four points from five games has them currently sitting outside of the qualification spots.

Leipzig have had no European fixtures to contend with this season, which has benefitted their domestic form. After losing against Bayern in round one, Leipzig dropped points in just one of their next eight matches, and that was in a tough matchup against Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park.

Leipzig were left frustrated last weekend, as Borussia Monchengladbach held on to a 0-0 draw on home turf. The Red Bulls were the dominant side throughout, but were unable to find the decisive breakthrough from any of their 20 shots. Moritz Nicolas accrued a total of four saves, while Peter Gulacsi had very little to do for Leipzig - Gladbach didn’t register a single shot on target.

📔 RB Leipzig v Eintracht Frankfurt Formation & Team News

Jonathan Burkardt was taken off against Atalanta, having suffered an injury last week. He missed that game against Wolfsburg at the weekend, and is unlikely to feature here once again. In his absence, Ansgar Knauff shifted into the centre forward role, with Jean-Matteo Bahoya reintroduced on the left. With Can Uzun also still in the treatment room, Mario Gotze should start in an advanced midfield role, while Mahmoud Dahoud will also be pushing to break into the starting eleven. Dino Toppmoller is likely to stick with a similar eleven to that which started at the weekend.

Ridle Baku was ruled out of Leipzig’s midweek clash, meaning Lukas Klostermann and Kosta Nedeljkovic will battle it out to start on the right in his absence. Romulo is another notable absentee for the Red Bulls, so Conrad Harder should lead the line this weekend. After starting last weekend, Xaver Schlager will hope to keep his spot alongside Nicolas Siewald in midfield.
