Northern Ireland Corner Match Bet

I really like this angle.

In the two Nations League matches between the pair Northern Ireland won the corner battle by a combined 17 corners to 2, a 10-2 advantage at Windsor Park followed by a 5-0 corner win in Luxembourg.

They are being priced up pretty evenly for this match, and given that Northern Ireland are favourites, and that I actually quite fancy them for the match as well, I think that they should be much shorter in this market.

Issac Price to have 2+ Shots

The West Brom attacking midfielder has started the season in great form.

He has a great role for West Brom, which is likely to be replicated here, where he has the freedom to float around a central.striker and arrive on the end of chances on a regular basis.

His scoring record for Northern Ireland is excellent and I suspect he will arrive into camp with tonnes of confidence.

Price averages 2.22 shots per 90 over Northern Ireland's last 30 matches, which increases to 2.41 in the last 10. Price has covered this line seven times in his last 10 internationals, including shooting three times in Luxembourg in March.

Danel Sinani to be Shown a Card

The pricing for this surprised me when I looked at the bookings market.

The former Norwich forward has three bookings in his last ten internationals, including two in Luxembourg's last three friendlies, and all of the bookings were for fouls.

This is not that surprising because Sinani leads Luxembourg's squad for fouls per 90, at a rate just above 2. Given the fact that I fancy Northern Ireland to do well here, Sinani could find himself getting frustrated and chasing the ball, potentially leading to fouls and booking chances.

🔴 Can Luxembourg Qualify for a World Cup?

The expansion of the 2026 World Cup is going to give lots of nations the chance to qualify for their first World Cup. Historically, Luxembourg and qualification would be poles apart, but their last World Cup campaign saw them win three of eight qualifiers, and then they actually had a record of five wins, two draws, and four defeats, finishing third in their Euro 2024 group.

This third placed finish got them into a play-off for the first time in their history. A third placed finish in this World Cup group wouldn't be enough though, and that is why winning this match is going to be super important for Luxembourg if they have any chance of attaining this goal.

Northern Ireland Set to Welcome a New Wave of Talent

I really like the look of Northern Ireland's squad for this campaign. There are a number of players who are going into their first World Cup campaign, and for many it is their first qualification run full stop, but there is interesting talent there.

Pierce Charles is currently injured unfortunately, but, at 20, he could be set for a long stint as #1. Then with Conor Bradley (22), Brodie Spencer (21), Terry Devlin (21), and Trai Hume (23) in the defensive section, there is a good set of full backs. Dan Ballard (25) is now a starting Premier League defender as well.

Perhaps most exciting is the midfield mix though. Shea Charles (21) can anchor and with Justin Devenny (21), Isaac Price (21) and Jamie Donley (20) there is no shortage of combinations for Michael O'Neill to work with.

There is perhaps a lack of young stardust up front, but Callum Marshall (20) definitely has potential.

📊 Luxembourg v Northern Ireland H2H

The last competitive match for both these nations was a 2-2 draw in the Nations League back in March in this same fixture.

Northern Ireland won 2-0 in the reverse, and indeed were 2-0 up in Luxembourg before a quickfire double earned Luxembourg a point.

Luxembourg have beaten Northern Ireland, but that was back in 2013, whereas Northern Ireland have three wins over their opponents including that recent Nations League triumph. Northern Ireland are also currently 18 places above Luxembourg in the FIFA rankings.
