Malmö FF v IFK Norrköping
Kick Off: Saturday 12th July at 16:30
Competition: Swedish Allsvenskan
Malmö have won one of their last five Allsvenskan games
Norrköping have lost the last seven head-to-heads
Norrköping have only once conceded more than two goals in their last eight
Allsvenskan champions Malmö FF have been a huge disappointment to date, only winning 6 of 15 games and sitting in 5th place, 10 points off the top. They have only won one of their last five Allsvenskan matches.
IFK Norrköping have had their fair share of problems, struggling financially and seeing a porous defence hamper their progress. They remain on solid ground in 12th, having collected 15 points in 14 games, but only have two points down to the relegation playoff spot.
Malmö are huge favourites at 1.3, the Norrköping win giving 7.0 in odds, while the draw sits at 4.33.
⭐ Malmö FF v IFK Norrköping Bet Builder Quick Tips
Malmö have had a tough time scoring goals, and without a prolific striker (Kiese Thelin struggling massively) it’s difficult to see their fortunes changing massively.
In addition, Norrköping have only conceded more than once in one of their last five matches, despite only winning one of those and having a difficult time defensively overall.
With Malmö’s difficulties to create and score (only 2 of their 14 games this season have had more than 3 goals), the under looks attractive, especially under 3.5 goals at 1.67. Malmö should get the win here but are unlikely to go wild, and as such, we can expect Malmö to win and under 4.5 goals in the match at the odds of 1.8.
🔵 A Terrible Title Defence
Malmö have performed below all expectations this season despite possessing by far the best squad and the strongest economy in the Swedish top tier. The campaign can only be classed as a disaster, currently sitting outside the European qualification spots, having amassed 1.6 points per game compared to 2.17 last season.
They lack creativity in the final third to unlock defences as well as a lethal goalscorer, Isaac Kiese Thelin having only grabbed a measly 3 goals in 15 this year, compared to 15 in 26 last season. Big signings have misfired and captain Anders Christiansen is getting older and more injury-prone.
One win in five Allsvenskan games, only scoring four goals in that run and failing to score in three of the matches, is a dire run, especially considering they lost a cup final to Häcken too. Morale is low with Henrik Rydström not finding the right formula in terms of starting lineup and cohesion.
🟠 Norrköping Walking the Tight Rope
Norrköping have been flirting with the bottom three all season but have managed to stay in the clear, securing wins against the worst teams in the division (Halmstad 11th, Sirius 13th, Värnamo 16th) and grabbing some unsuspecting points against better opposition such as Mjällby (1st) and Hammarby (2nd), both 1-1 games.
They tend to look open defensively, giving away 1.7 xG per game and conceding at just above that rate, but somehow manage to get results against some better teams, especially with their goalkeeper David Andersson playing well of late.
Norrköping have done relatively well away from home, having a goal difference of 0 with 2-2-2 as the W-D-L record. They somewhat luckily grabbed a 1-1 draw in their last away game at Djurgården.
📊 Malmö FF v IFK Norrköping Head-to-Head Key Stats
In the most recent game between these two sides, played in August 2024, Malmö won 2-1, with their first encounter last season ending in a 5-1 Malmö win.
The attacking prowess of the hosts is now decimated compared to prior seasons, meaning the head-to-head record has little significance. We do however have to go back to September 2021 for the most recent Norrköping point, a 1-1 draw, Malmö winning the last seven encounters.
