Milan v Juventus
📅

Competition: Serie A
⏰
Kick off: 19:45
📺
Watch Live: TNT Sports 1
Sunday evening sees two giants of Italian football go head to head as AC Milan welcome Juventus to the San Siro in what’s sure to be a firecracker of a game. This one could be a gripping tactical battle and there is simply no better way to conclude the weekend’s fixtures than settling in for the Derby d’Italia.
The Rossoneri return from the international break hoping to continue their fantastic start to the season. Stefano Pioli’s side currently sit top of Serie A through eight matches having lost just once all campaign, although it was a humiliating 5-1 defeat to bitter rivals Inter Milan in the Derby della Madonnina. In fact, this is the only defeat they have suffered in all competitions having opened up with two 0-0 draws in the Champions League against Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund, and they’ll be looking for another victory in this one in order to extend their advantage in the title race.
The Bianconeri currently occupy third place in the league table, hot on the heels of the Milan clubs as they look to mount a serious challenge for a first Scudetto since the 2019/2020 season. Massimiliano Allegri’s outfit have the rare advantage of not being involved in European competition this campaign as they were docked points last season for financial irregularities, with UEFA also handing down a year-long ban in Europe. Therefore, an assault on the league is a clear priority and they’ll be looking to demonstrate their title-winning credentials this weekend.
It was Pioli who managed to get the better of his opposite number last term as Milan completed the double over Juve in the league for only the third time in 50 years. Goals from Fikayo Tomori and Brahim Diaz secured a comfortable 2-0 win at the San Siro, before Olivier Giroud’s strike claimed a 1-0 win at Allianz Stadium in the penultimate game of the season, securing Milan’s qualification for the Champions League in the process. Allegri will be looking to avenge those losses with a statement win, to blow the title race wide open.
The finer details of this exciting match will be explored in this article. In fact, two levels of an AC Milan vs Juventus bet builder have been handpicked using the Cheat Sheet in order to make the game an even more enjoyable watch. You simply don’t want to miss out.

Pulisic to continue bright start in Milan?
Since his £18.8 million move from Chelsea in the summer, Christian Pulisic has made a flying start to life in Italy with the American winger successfully reigniting his career after a disappointing four-year spell in West London.
The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder has already scored four goals and provided one assist for his new club, including coming off the bench to score the winner against Genoa before the international break. The 25-year-old also managed to find the back of the net in both games for the USA last week, against Germany and Ghana, and will return to Milan keen on maintaining his resurgent form.
AC Milan team news
Milan boss Pioli has a number of selection headaches to contend with ahead of the game, with suspensions and injuries to key personnel hampering preparations. AC Milan’s squad depth will certainly be tested to the limit.
Goalkeeper Mike Maignan is serving a two-match ban following his straight red against Genoa and his understudy Marco Sportiello has suffered a calf problem. Therefore, Antonio Mirante is likely to start between the posts. The tenacious Theo Hernandez is also ruled out through suspension having already collected five yellow cards this season. Alessandro Florenzi could deputise at left back in his absence with Davide Calabria coming into the team on the right side. Fikayo Tomori and Malick Thiaw will again partner at the heart of defence to make up the backline.
Midfield duo Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Rade Krunic are both carrying minor muscle injuries and might only be available from the bench. Therefore, Yacine Adli and Yunus Musah are likely to join the ever-present Tijjani Reijnders in midfield while Algerian Ismael Bennacer remains sidelined with a long term knee injury, and isn’t expected to return until early January. Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao are certain to come back into the fold having been rested for the trip to Genoa with Luka Jovic dropping back down to the bench as a result. Christian Pulisic will complete the front three.
Rabiot to prevail in the midfield battles?
Adrien Rabiot was at the centre of transfer speculation during the summer, with Manchester United very much in the frame to sign the French midfielder. However, any potential deal failed to materialise due to the player’s apparent wage demands and a one-year contract extension was penned with Juventus instead.
The potential absence of Krunic and Loftus-Cheek in the middle could allow the French international to flourish and have a positive influence on proceedings. Rabiot is certain to be heavily involved in the game both defensively and offensively as he looks to help his side to victory.
Juventus team news
Juve coach Allegri also has a number of issues to resolve as he looks to find the right balance with his absentees, especially at the back and in forward areas where a number of the squad are missing and won’t feature in the game.
The long-serving Wojciech Szczesny will be the first name on the team sheet but there will be an enforced change in the settled back three of Federico Gatti and Brazilian pair Gleison Bremer and Danilo. The latter picked up a hamstring injury against Venezuela while away on international duty and will be sidelined until November. That opens the door for Daniele Rugani who could come in to replace him, despite only featuring twice this campaign. Alex Sandro and Mattia De Sciglio are nearing a return to action but are unlikely to feature in this game and won’t be rushed back.
Mainstays Manuel Locatelli and Adrien Rabiot will anchor the midfield while Filip Kostić and Timothy Weah will provide width down the flanks. That leaves one spot available in the centre of the park which is likely to be filled by Weston McKennie. Young Italian Fabio Miretti will drop to the bench and his compatriot Nicolo Fagioli has been handed a seven-month suspension by the Italian Football Federation. Dusan Vlahovic may win his fitness race at the expense of Moise Kean, while Arkadiusz Milik is pushing for a start with Federico Chiesa ruled out.

ABC’s 4/1 AC Milan v Juventus bet builder
🏆 Juventus double chance
📈
Odds: 1.57
With the mounting injury concerns for Pioli, especially in goal and in the heart of the midfield, Juve will be quietly confident of securing a positive outcome on the road as they look to close the gap on the Milan clubs.
Pioli may also have one eye on upcoming away fixtures against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, and reigning champions Napoli next weekend. He will need to manage his squad accordingly, opening the door for the visitors.
Meanwhile, Allegri will be keen to avoid a repeat of last season’s performances against the Rossoneri and will no doubt have his players fired up. The away side look for revenge having lost both fixtures last season and they are fancied to get a result.

🎯 Christian Pulisic to have 1+ shots on target
📈
Odds: 1.80
Pulisic is enjoying a real purple patch at the moment and is likely to be heavily involved in the game from an attacking perspective. The USA international will be looking to exploit the Juventus defence and will certainly test Szczesny’s goal.
The former Chelsea man has been very efficient when taking shots at the opposition this season, already attempting ten in the league. Interestingly eight of those have hit the target, showing his accuracy and composure in the final third.
Rugani coming into the side cold could also work in Pulisic’s favour.

🚀 Adrien Rabiot to have 1+ shot
📈
Odds: 1.20
Rabiot always seems to be heavily involved in every game he plays, whether that’s drawing and committing fouls or getting his shots away on the opposition goal. Either way, he’s a safe bet to influence the game one way or another.
The Frenchman seems to rank highly for both shots taken and shots on target for his team. Last season he amassed 48 shots with 22 hitting the target and this campaign he’s already at 13 shots with seven on target, so this seems a sensible angle to focus on.
Given he averaged 1.57 shots per 90 minutes in the last campaign, and this term that has increased slightly to 1.62, there is every chance Rabiot fancies his chances of testing AC Milan’s third choice goalkeeper at least once during the game.

🛑 Manuel Locatelli to commit 1+ fouls
📈
Odds: 1.20
Locatelli is certainly the type of player to get stuck in and wear his heart on his sleeve, especially given the stakes in such a high profile game. Playing alongside midfield partner Rabiot, the Italian is likely to be very competitive in the middle.
The 25-year-old certainly relished this fixture last season during the 1-0 defeat at home, committing four fouls along the way. In fact, he came second only to Rabiot in fouls committed last term, bringing down his opponents no less than 44 times.
With the likes of Leao, Pulisic and Giroud all ranking highly for fouls drawn, it’s more than likely that Locatelli will find himself in trouble on the turn and there is a high probability that he commits a cynical foul during the course of 90 minutes.

🏆 Juventus double chance
📈
Odds: 1.57
There is a possibility that Juventus take all three points away from the San Siro, a venue where they have enjoyed a lot of success over the years. However, sticking with them on the double chance market is the safest option as this certainly seems a stern test for a weakened Milan side.

🎯 Christian Pulisic to have 1+ shots on target
📈
Odds: 1.80
With the excellent form he’s in right now for both club and country, and given that he’s coming up against a defender who has only played a couple of times this campaign, Pulisic is likely to enjoy a profitable evening. Sticking with the midfielder to have one shot on target is the sensible selection.

🚀 Adrien Rabiot to have 2+ shots
📈
Odds: 2.20
With Rabiot’s tendency to let fly, it’s worth upgrading this selection from 1 shot to 2, especially as this gives a significant boost to the overall odds. With Juventus potentially a bit shy up front with injuries, there will be more reliance on the midfielders to provide support and that’s the play.

🛑 Manuel Locatelli to commit 2+ fouls
📈
Odds: 2.00
Maurizio Mariani has been selected to officiate the game which could spell trouble for a number of players, not least Locatelli. The referee averaged 4.5 cards per game last season and has shown 9 in his two games this term. But an accumulation of fouls is the bet, increasing this from 1 foul to 2.
