San Jose Earthquakes v LA Galaxy
🏟
Sunday 25th September – 3:00AM KO
There is just the one match in the MLS this weekend with it being the international break and it comes from PayPal Park where two Californian rivals meet as the San Jose Earthquakes take on an LA Galaxy side for whom this is a big match.
Galaxy go into the match occupying the last slot in the Western Conference play-off bracket so a win here can put them in a really good position to extend their season with just two matches left for all teams after the international break.
They now make the short trip to San Jose who are bottom of the pile and just looking to get a few ducks in place to have a better campaign next season.
San Jose have won just seven of 31 matches this term, but the Galaxy won’t need reminding that one of those was against themselves in the reverse fixture between these two, a crazy MLS game which ended 3-2 to the Earthquakes, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we get another wacky match between the two here as it is a rivalry that has a history of goals.
It has taken them a while but the Galaxy have finally found some consistency in their campaign. They go into this match off the back of just one loss in their last eight games and are probably playing as well now as they have done at any stage of the season.
In contrast, the Earthquakes have won just two of their last 12 and are starting to ship goals for fun, as beaten and unmotivated sides generally do. This match means everything for the visitors so the best way to play this is to take them but without the draw in play given the derby element of the contest.
