Newcastle v Arsenal
📅
Kick Off: Saturday 2nd November at 12:30
🏆
Competition: Premier League
📺
Watch Live: TNT Sports 1
After last weekend’s draw with Liverpool, Arsenal are now five points behind leaders Manchester City and cannot afford to be dropping any points here, especially with Chelsea away immediately after.
Meanwhile, Newcastle sit 12th in the Premier League with an average W3-D3-L3 start to the season despite six of their nine opponents either finishing in last season’s bottom half or being a newly promoted side.
⭐ Newcastle v Arsenal Best Bets
Arsenal’s return to challenging for the Premier League title has had its foundation built on their excellent defence. Indeed last season they had the best defence in the league and since then they have conceded just 39 goals in 47 games – only 0.83 goals per game. Away from home, it’s even more impressive, having let in only 17 in 23 games – 0.74 goals-per-game.
With Martin Odegaard still out injured, a man with 18 goals and assists last season who also creates the most chances for Arsenal, it means they have lost their focal point in attack and it feels like there is more emphasis on keeping things tight and relying on one or two goals for success. Indeed, four of their five away games this season have finished under 2.5 goals. Going further back, it’s nine of their last 13 away that have seen fewer than three goals.
Newcastle meanwhile, are the joint fourth-lowest scorers in the league with just nine goals, whilst alongside Arsenal, have also conceded the joint fourth-lowest goals with 10. Eight of their 12 games this season have finished under 2.5 goals and historically this fixture at St James’ Park has been a low-scoring affair. The last five meetings have all finished under 2.5 goals with a total of just eight goals at an average of 1.6 goals per game.

👕 Newcastle v Arsenal Predicted XI
🔍 Newcastle v Arsenal Players to Watch
🔴 Bukayo Saka
Bukayo Saka made a stunning return from injury last weekend against Liverpool with a goal after just nine minutes. He’s the danger man for Arsenal, both scoring and assisting with seven goals provided for team-mates already, particularly with Martin Odegaard out injured.
He’s averaging 3.4 shots per game so far this season, on the back of 3.1 per game last season. Newcastle are conceding the sixth-most shots per game at 15.6.
🔴 Kai Havertz
After joining as an attacking midfielder from Chelsea, Kai Havertz has made the number 9 position at Arsenal his own. He’s been praised for his goal return, having now scored 13 goals in his last 23 Premier League games.
This is a result of now playing as a striker and thus finding himself in a lot more goalscoring positions. Indeed he’s averaging 3.1 shots per game this season all playing as the central attacker.
🔴 Gabriel Magalhaes
Arsenal’s defence has long won plaudits for its ability to keep out goals but they are also a huge asset at the other end of the pitch. They scored the most goals from set-pieces last season with 20 and this season they have started similarly with four already. The delivery from the likes of Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice has been excellent making it easy for the Arsenal defenders to get on the end of them.
The man to profit has been Gabriel Magalhaes who’s averaging 1.3 shots per game this season and already has two goals. Newcastle are committing the second-most fouls per game at home this season and could give Arsenal more dangerous set-piece opportunities.
