Crystal Palace return to Selhurst Park as they host an inform Leeds for some Monday Night Football in the Premier League. The Eagles suffered their third consecutive defeat in all competitions as Newcastle saw them off at St James Park. Meanwhile the away side continued their positive run of form, stringing together a 4-game unbeaten run for the first time this season.
These two managers have a bit of history and look to reignite that battle, this time in South London. Having faced off on the touch line on numerous occasions in the MLS for New York City and New York Red Bulls. Patrick Vieira saw red in 2016 after refusing to shake Marsch’s hand in one of the many fiery encounters between the city rivals.
Despite Leeds’ campaign being viewed as poor, whereas Vieira has been praised for doing wonders at Selhurst park, only 4 points separate the sides before kick-off thanks to Jesse Marsch coming in and making all the difference.
Leeds aren’t quite safe yet but their run has widened the gap between the relegation zone and a win here would be a huge boost in securing their safety. Burnley’s win has significantly piled the pressure back on Leeds so this is another huge game in their bid for survival.
Olise looks to be a doubt for the hosts which could prove to be a big miss in attack for Palace with the youngster offering a huge threat this season. For Leeds, Bamford continues to be side-lined in his injury riddled season and Adam Forshaw has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign.
This looks to be a tight game, but it could be a thriller with that Leeds energy that they bring to games. I have put together a bet builder coming in at around 8.32, take a read of my research for each selection and find the Cheat Sheet below to help with your bet builders.
Crystal Palace v Leeds Bet Builder Tips
Leeds Double Chance
The first selection here is mainly due to the recent form of both sides, Leeds are really hitting form under Jesse Marsch and are unbeaten in their last 4 matches adding 10 points to their tally to help widen the gap from the relegation zone. Palace on the other hand, have lost their last 3 in all competitions and have failed to score in their last 2 outings.
Looking at head-to-head, Leeds have come out on top in their last 2 without letting Palace get on the scoresheet. Including a narrow 1-0 victory at Elland Road in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. The sides have met 65 times with Leeds winning 31 games and drawing 16 times in the past.
Leeds have had 8 defeats away from home alongside 4 wins and 4 draws with Palace drawing 7 and losing 4 from their 16 games at Selhurst park and with Leeds form picking up I fancy them to take something away from this.
Partrick Vieira doesn’t have a great record against Jesse Marsch, losing 5 and drawing 1 from 9 games meaning that he averages 1.11 points against the American manager. Leeds new manager has won 3 from his first 6 games in charge and has brought even more energy into the Leeds camp, making them the most successful pressing side since his appointment which shows his impact.

Prediction: Leeds Double Chance
Luke Ayling to be Shown a Card
The second of my selections is Luke Ayling to be booked. The Leeds right back has been a mainstay for Leeds this season and should line up at right back again here at Selhurst Park. The Englishman looks to be in for a tough shift as he tries to keep Palace’s Wilfred Zaha quiet. The Ivorian is the most fouled player in the premier league with his 4 fouls per game and is always difficult to contain on the wing.
Ayling was lucky to avoid a yellow card last time out against Watford, committing 3 fouls as his side eased past The Hornets. He seems to have been in a fiery mood in Leeds’ efforts to stay in the Premier League, with 2 yellows in his last 4 games.
Ayling has 4 yellows to his name in the Premier League this season, which have all came since the turn of the year and up against Zaha I think he could add another to his name with his 1.04 fouls committed per game.
Leeds are also the second dirtiest team in the Premier League, averaging 12.2 fouls per game so I can see a few bookings going Leeds way with Darren England averaging 4.08 cards per game. This was a heated meeting in the reverse fixture where there were 8 cards shown!

Prediction: Luke Ayling to be Shown a Card
Raphinha to have 1+ Shots on Target
The final selection of the bet builder focuses on Leeds United’s standout player of the season so far. Raphinha has caught the eye of European giants and is set for summer move but not before helping play his part to try and secure his sides safety.
Raphinha will be a key man in Leeds attack on Monday as he has been in multiple games already this season. The Brazilian is his sides top scorer with 10 goals to his name showing his attacking threat. Last time out, Raphinha added to his goal tally through a brilliant long-range effort, tucking away 1 from his 2 shots on target in a game he was highly influential.
Leeds have the 6th most shots per game in the Premier League, only after 5 of the big 6 showing their impressive attacking football. They also sit in the top half for shots on target with the 9th highest total in the Premier League.
The Brazilian winger has had 76 shots this season finding the target from 22 of these resulting in his 0.72 shots on target per game. With Bamford being injured, Raphinha is the main man for dead ball situations which gives him that extra opportunity for him to find the target too.

Prediction: Raphinha to have 1+ Shots on Target
