After a midweek dominated by the EFL Cup, our experts are back on the Premier League goals trail. As ever, they have been hard at work looking for the games where goalkeepers will be picking the ball out of the onion bag, and together our over 2.5 goals picks combine into a very tempting double at even money.
The fixtures this week are a re-run of Tuesday night’s EFL cup game between Man United and Crystal Palace, and Tottenham hosting Liverpool. Any excitement the 3-0 win for United may have caused fans should however be tempered by the fact that Palace fielded an extremely weak side, so this one should certainly be more competitive.
Tottenham are fresh off the back of a fantastic North London derby, which saw four goals shared between the two sides, whilst Liverpool have been in good goalscoring form themselves, scoring three goals in each of their last five in all competitions. Goals look extremely likely here. And if goals bets aren’t necessarily your only betting market this weekend, why not look at our 6/1 Premier League accumulator as well?

Saturday’s Premier League Goals Tips
Man United v Crystal Palace
In a repeat of Tuesday’s EFL Cup tie, Crystal Palace travel up to Old Trafford seeking vengeance after a 3-0 defeat to the Red Devils. It was an embarrassing showing for Palace v Fulham last time out, registering just 0.36 xG and Roy Hodgson will be keen to return to their usual attacking ways that have seen Palace score in all but one game before midweek.
A tumultuous opening to the season has seen United’s poor start overshadowed by off-field controversy. The 3-0 win against Palace was a good way to open their EFL Cup defence but they need to get their league form on track, particularly at Old Trafford. So long a fortress of the Premier League, United were embarrassed on their own turf by a fluid Brighton side and their playmakers. If the likes of Eberechi Eze can adopt similar pockets of space then Palace could be a significant threat on Saturday.
Going forward, United finally seem to have some positives. They haven’t blanked since their trip to Spurs and have found the back of the net with over 2.5 goals landing against Arsenal, Brighton, Forest and Bayern since. They racked up 14 shots for 1.78 xG against Palace on Wednesday, exploiting the wide areas effectively. Chuck the likes of Marcus Rashford into the XI and the chance of goals from his position only goes up.
Over 2.5 goals is the bet here.
Tottenham v Liverpool
A thriller to close out the Saturday Premier League line-up as 2nd take on 4th in a battle of two unbeaten sides in North London. Spurs demonstrated their ability to hold their own against the big boys with a thrilling 2-2 draw away at Arsenal where they dominated play while Liverpool managed yet another 3-1 victory over David Moyes’ West Ham.
Over 2.5 goals in Liverpool games has sailed home at a canter this season. A 1-1 draw v Chelsea on the opening day is still the only time this selection hasn’t landed with Klopp’s men this season. Darwin Nunez is starting to hit the form that saw Liverpool fork out for him last summer, while Dominik Szoboszlai is starting to shine in the midfield three. His screamer in midweek saw them cruise past Leicester in the cup.
Spurs have been the talk of the Premier League this season with electric performances and possibly the most likeable manager in football. Ange Postecoglou has been a breath of fresh air around the club in the midst of the turmoil of Harry Kane leaving. Spurs now look confident on the ball and comfortable playing through the lines. Yves Bissouma has been exceptional at relieving pressure while Micky Van de Ven was brilliant in the north London derby last weekend, providing a calm head in the presence of Cristian Romero.
For all Spurs have been impressive, they haven’t kept a clean sheet in over a month and will be under pressure from the Liverpool press. Four of their six league games have gone over this line, with a pair of 2-0 victories the only other outings. Both those games featured over 4 xG and we expect Liverpool to be more clinical than Bournemouth and Man United were against them.
Over 2.5 goals is the tip here. You can also read our Cheat Sheet preview of the game here.
