A difficult final assignment faces PSV as they play host to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
It’s the final matchday of the initial phase, PSV need a win to 100% guarantee they qualify for the knockout rounds of the competition.
PSV will be hoping Bayern are in a generous mood; the hosts have already qualified for the next stage and picked up their bye to the quarter final, but a defeat against Augsburg at the weekend may prompt a swift and aggressive reaction here.

📂 PSV v Bayern Munich Cheat Sheet
📈 PSV v Bayern Munich Form & Tactics
Bayern Munich have become absolutely imperious under Vincent Kompany, winning has become a consistent habit, and they once again look destined to win the Bundesliga title by a comfortable margin; they now sit eight points clear of Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern have scored a ridiculous 72 goals in just nineteen league games, at a whopping average of 3.79 per game. Such has been Bayern’s level of dominance that they’ve only dropped seven points in the Bundesliga all season.
Winning has also become second nature in the Champions League; Bayern have won six out of their seven games, only being defeated by Arsenal at the Emirates.
PSV are having a ruthlessly efficient season in the Eredivisie. After twenty games, they find themselves sitting on 53 points, dropping just seven points all season.
The gap from 1st to 2nd already looks unassailable, with Feyenoord sitting 14 points behind PSV. It seems to be a matter of when PSV will win the league, rather than if they will win the league.
The Champions League has proved to be a less productive avenue for PSV; they’ve amassed eight points from seven games. Consecutive defeats against Atletico Madrid and Newcastle has weakened their overall position; a win is needed against Bayern to completely guarantee their passage to the knockouts.
📔 PSV v Bayern Munich Formation & Team News
Peter Bosz has transformed PSV into an aggressive, high-pressing, and dominant possession-based side, often utilising a fluid 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 formation. His style, which is heavily influenced by Johan Cruyff, emphasises rapid ball recovery, high defensive lines, and constant positional rotations, leading to high scoring and open games.
Bosz encourages full-backs to push high up the flank, while wingers may move inside or maintain width, creating varied attacking shapes and combinations.
PSV will be without Myron Boadu, Nick Olij, Ricardo Pepi, Alassane Plea, and Ruben Van Bommel. While Salah-Eddine and Guus Til are injury question marks. Yarek Gasiorowski misses out because of a suspension.
Vincent Kompany’s style has a heavy emphasis on possession-based football with some fluid and interchangeable formations. They typically employ a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 off the ball, then switch to a 3-2-5 during build-up.
The tactics are characterised by high pressing and aggressive, positional-oriented attacks, inspired by Kompany’s former manager Pep Guardiola. Bayern look to create overloads with quick, short passes, demanding technical defensive players and skillful players in attacking positions.
There are some injury issues for Bayern Munich, particularly in defence, with Sacha Boey, Konrad Laimer, and Josip Stanisic all injured. Raphael Guerreiro and Dayot Upamecano are question marks after a calf injury and bout of illness. Kim Min-Jae misses out with a suspension.
