Rangers can move to the top of the Scottish Premiership table for the first time this season with a handsome win over Ross County at Ibrox in a rearranged fixture.

The Gers have been in formidable form in recent weeks, with Philippe Clement’s side turned into a well oiled winning machine, even if they are rarely producing fireworks as they get the job done. Not that the Rangers support is complaining as they bulldoze their way to victory after victory, with just a little polish missing in the final third at times.

On Saturday, Rangers moved easily past Ayr United in the Scottish Cup. The 2-0 victory typified the type of comfortable win that the Ibrox club are achieving match after match.

Ross County, meanwhile, are a club in crisis. The resignation of unpopular manager Derek Adams will certainly help them to some extent, yet interim boss Don Cowie has his work cut out to piece morale together in a squad that was left splintered by the former boss. With a high number of loan players signed by Adams in January, the commitment to the cause of some of the new faces will inevitably be questioned.

So a big home win is expected here, but will it play out that way?
