Real Betis and Rangers are playing for their Europa League future in Seville on Thursday. First place is guaranteed for the winners while the losers face the prospect of dropping into the Conference League if Sparta Prague can win away to Aris.
Neither side has been at their absolute best in the group stage of the competition yet Betis boast two wins from two at home, where they are undefeated in 10 matches across competitions this term.
The home team are also in the driving seat going into this match. A draw would likely be enough to guide them past the play-off round and straight into the round of 16, although they are chasing a win that would guarantee top spot.
Rangers, who come into this match depleted by a raft of midfield injuries, are undefeated under the guidance of Philippe Clement but are yet to win away from home in Europe this season from four attempts.
The Gers, meanwhile, have an awful record on Spanish soil, losing 10 and drawing three of their previous 13 trips to the country.

⚽ Match stats: Betis to come out on top
Betis should be too strong for Rangers in this encounter, with their excellent home record this season underscored by the fact that they were able to draw 1-1 against Real Madrid at the weekend. In that match, they posted more shots than their rivals while they also had a greater xG.
Their record this season at the Benito Villamarin is formidable. In their 10 competitive matches, they have picked up seven victories and have been held three times. Betis can count Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid among those teams that have drawn with them, genuinely elite teams.
Rangers, meanwhile, do not fall into that bracket. The Gers’ away form has been cause for concern throughout their European run. They are winless in their last seven continental matches on the road dating back to last season, losing five of those.
Predictions:
🏆 Real Betis to win @ 1.75
🎯 Shooting stats: Two standouts
Rangers are unlikely to go down without a fight in this match, and there is some interesting value in the shots on target market for the visiting players.
In particular, Abdallah Sima looks good value at 1.8 to get at least one shot on target. After all, the on-loan Brighton player is the Gers’ man in form. He has scored in all three of their December fixtures and also bagged the only goal when Rangers defeated Betis 1-0 in Glasgow back in September.
Rangers’ threat in the previous match between the clubs came from the flanks. Sima had two shots on goal and Rabbi Matondo, who could well start this match, and left back Borna Barisic each had one on target.
Matondo is 1.91 to repeat that feat but after coming back from injury, it would be little surprise to see him restricted to an hour or so, however. Barisic at 2.20 to have any kind of shot looks good value, given he’s had an fired off an effort in two of his last four matches.
Betis’ threat is harder to pinpoint. Their seven Europa League goals this season have been scored by seven different players.
Nevertheless, Isco is the player who offers their most consistent threat. The former Real Madrid player is the only one in their side who has more than 1 shot on target per 90 on average, while he is liable to get significant game-time, boasting 82 minutes per game so far this term. At 1.73, he offers substantially the best value for the hosts.
Predictions:
🎯 Abdallah Sima to have 1+ shots on target @ 1.80
🚀 Borna Barisic to have 1+ shots @ 2.20
🎯 Isco to have 1+ shots on target @ 1.73
🛑 Fouls stats: A battle in store between Sima and Ruibal
Betis will be without their main defensive destroyer as Guido Rodriguez is banned for this encounter, but the home side still have two players who are particularly worth keeping an eye on for a Betis v Rangers bet builder.
The first of these is former Barcelona youth Marc Roca, who posts a high average minutes and 2.37 fouls per 90. He will be expected to do much of the defensive work done by Rodriguez and will be directly opposing Todd Cantwell, who is an all action attacking midfielder, who wins more fouls than any other Rangers player.
The other interesting option is right back Aitor Ruibal, who has started the last four Europa League matches, playing 90 minutes in three of them. Rangers are likely to attack down the wings and will seek to exploit Ruibal’s more natural tendency as a winger. Whether he is up against Abdallah Sima or Rabbi Matondo, he is likely to be stretched.
Posting 1.82 fouls per 90, Ruibal looks good value to be shown a card at 5.5.
With Sima set to have a back and forth with his direct opponent in Ruibal, he could also be expected to post a high foul count in what could be an important battle.
Predictions:
🛑 Marc Roca to commit 2+ fouls @ 1.50
🟨 Aitor Ruibal to be shown a card @ 5.50
🛑 Abdallah Sima to commit 2+ fouls @ 2.30
