Results for Sevilla on home turf this season have been inconsistent, with two wins, one draw and three losses from their six La Liga matches. However, their average of 3.33 goals per game at the Roman Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium this term highlights how they have been quite an entertaining side to watch.

Sevilla put four past Barcelona at the start of October, showcasing their efficiency in the final third, but with 21 goals conceded after 13 league games this season, they haven’t been particularly watertight at the back. 

Real Betis have been in impressive form this season, and will certainly be on hand to exploit any defensive weaknesses. Los Verdiblancos currently sit fifth in the La Liga standings, with 20 goals scored. Over 1.5 goals has landed in 12 of their 13 league matches overall, only failing in a 1-0 victory against Alaves back in August. 

Sevilla racked up 13 corners in their previous outing against Espanyol, and were unfortunate to lose the game given the amount of chances they created. The visitors accrued 22 shots worth 1.82 xG, as Marko Dmitrovic put in an excellent performance in between the sticks for Espanyol. The hosts scored twice from 1.09 xG, including a wonder goal from Roberto Fernandez. 

Sevilla are averaging 5.31 corners per game in the league this season, registering at least four corners in each of their last seven. While results haven’t quite gone the way Matias Almeyda would have hoped in recent games, his side have looked dangerous going forward. Los Rojiblancos have had a week to rest and prepare for this fixture, giving them the advantage over Betis who had a testing midweek clash against Utrecht. 

Betis conceded seven corners against Valencia at the weekend, and are averaging 5.63 corners against per game this season on the road.

Ruben Vargas had to be withdrawn early last weekend, as he suffered a hamstring injury. The Switzerland international faces a few weeks on the sidelines, which opens up a window of opportunity for Alfon Gonzalez. After joining from Celta Vigo over the summer, the Spaniard has been restricted to just two starts at his new club, but he did look sharp against Espanyol at the weekend. 

The 26-year-old accumulated four shots despite only making a 36-minute cameo. Last season, he racked up a total of eight goals from his 29 appearances in all competitions for Celta Vigo, averaging an eye-catching 3.26 shots per 90.  

Gonzalez is a very direct and energetic player, always looking to beat his marker and get a shot off. He certainly isn’t shy to try his luck from distance, and will look to try and establish himself as a starter in the Sevilla squad while Vargas remains out.

Real Betis rank third in La Liga for total fouls drawn this season, highlighting how they have been a difficult side to contain with a technical attacking lineup. Giovani Lo Celso and Abde Ezzalzouli have been chief contributors to that record, as they rank second and seventh, respectively, for total fouls drawn out of all players in the Spanish top flight this season. 

Operating in a defensive midfield role, Batista Mendy will have the tough task of trying to contain these two players, and the French international could be in for a hectic afternoon. Mendy has seen a notable uptick in fouls since arriving from Trabzonspor over the summer - his average of 3.0 fouls per 90 this season is the highest in the Sevilla squad.

Mendy is priced as short as 1.17 to commit two or more fouls, but this price of 3.1 for him to be carded stands out, especially against Sevilla’s main rivals.
