📈 Barcelona v Real Madrid Form, Stats & Formation
Barcelona have been on an exceptional run of form, and the title is now within touching distance. They won 2-1 against Osasuna last weekend, making it 10 successive league wins. Hansi Flick's men have been a dominant force in the Spanish top-flight, and they have won 29 of their 34 matches in total - that includes all 17 when playing at home. To be crowned champions for the second season running at Camp Nou would be the perfect end to the season, especially if that comes against their rivals in El Clasico.
Real Madrid did well to keep the pressure on Barcelona for so long, but unfortunately for them, they hit a rough patch of form at the start of April, which saw them fall behind. Los Blancos suffered a 2-1 defeat against Mallorca, before drawing against Girona, and they are now 11 points behind Barcelona in the league with just four games remaining.
Around that period, Real Madrid were also eliminated by Bayern Munich in the Champions League, meaning they are on track for a trophyless season - that last time that happened was in the 20/21 season.
Lamine Yamal was missing from the matchday squad against Osasuna last time out, and he is set to miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury. Frenkie de Jong could partner Pedri in midfield, while Jules Kounde will be available for selection again after serving his suspension last time out.
Alvaro Arbeloa also has a bit of a selection headache this weekend, and he will be desperate for Mbappe to be fit enough to start. Without him, Brahim Diaz could start alongside Vinicius up front, with Valverde on the right wing. Ferland Mendy has emerged as an injury doubt after coming off after just 14 minutes against Espanyol last time out, so Fran Garcia could start in his absence.
