The two giants find themselves in their customary positions at the top of La Liga with seven games remaining this season. Los Blancos, though, are firmly in the driving seat for the title, boasting an eight-point advantage over their historic rivals. Victory in this match would all-but clinch the crown.
The Bernabeu side will want to get La Liga in the bag as quickly as possible in order to focus on their Champions League semi-final double header against Bayern Munich.
They had to come through a mentally and physically gruelling encounter against Manchester City in midweek before emerging victorious on penalties.
This was a more favourable outcome to the one Barca experienced, though. The Catalans looked set for victory over PSG when Raphinha bundled them into a 1-0 lead on the night that gave them a 4-2 aggregate advantage, yet they folded after Ronald Araujo was sent off and went out 6-4 over the two legs.
There is little doubt that Real Madrid have the upper hand in this rivalry at present. Carlo Ancelotti’s side won in Barcelona in October thanks to Jude Bellingham’s late winner and followed that up with a 4-1 Supercopa success in January. Can they make it a hat-trick of wins over their fiercest foes?

🏆 Match stats: Los Blancos to heap on Barca’s misery
Both teams experienced draining matches in midweek, but while Barcelona have had a day extra to recover, bouncing back from the type of chastening loss they suffered promises to be challenging. On the other hand, Real Madrid should be buoyant, particularly knowing they have twice beaten the Catalans this season.
Los Blancos, meanwhile, have made the Bernabeu a fortress this season. In La Liga, they have won 13 of 15 games and have conceded a mere seven goals. Currently, they are on a run of four successive victories without conceding.
Barcelona are no mugs on the road, though. They are undefeated in La Liga away from home and claimed an impressive 3-0 success against Atletico Madrid just a month ago.
Still, Real Madrid look good at 1.8 given the recent history between these sides.
EL Clasico, meanwhile, is historically a game that produces goals and drama. The two matches earlier this season both saw over 2.5 strikes, which continues a trend that dates back to 2020 of at least three goals being netted between these clubs. Only once in 12 matches has this failed to happen.
Predictions:
⚽ Real Madrid to win @ 1.80
⚽ Over 2.5 goals @ 1.50
🎯 Shooting stats: Brazilian trio to cause trouble
Rodrygo has more shots on target than any other likely Real Madrid starter on a per 90 minute basis this season across all competitions, yet sits with higher odds than Vinicius Junior. He is also a young man in terrific form with four goals in his last three club matches, plus multiple shots on target in each of his last three.
Odds of 2.75 on him continuing that streak look healthy while 1.36 on him hitting the target with one shot is also a good price to boost a bet builder. He is 2.88 to score his third career goal against Barcelona in what will be his 13th Clasico.
Vinicius Junior has a better record in these matches, with the forward having netted six times in 16 games against Barca, including in three of the last four Clasicos. His undoubted highlight came in the Supercopa, when he scored a hat-trick.
The man for the big occasion, he is 2.5 to score anytime – the same price as Jude Bellingham, who has gone six games without a goal as his level has dipped below the stellar standard he set early in his Real Madrid career.
Barcelona have their own in-form star in the form of Raphinha. He posts more shots on target per 90 than anyone who has played over 200 minutes for the Camp Nou club this season across all competitions, registering 1.76. With goals in each of his last three starts, the winger will not be lacking confidence.
At 1.76 to muster even a single shot on target, he looks the best value bet in Xavi’s side, particularly with Robert Lewandowski again hitting a trough of form currently.
Predictions:
⚽ Vinicius Junior to score anytime @ 2.50
⚽ Rodyrgo to have 1+ shots on target @ 1.36
⚽ Rodyrgo to have 2+ shots on target @ 2.88
⚽ Raphinha to have 1+ shots on target @ 1.73
🛑 Fouls stats: Carvajal and De Jong to get in foul trouble
Will this be a fiery Clasico like some of the vintage encounters of old? The two games between these sides this season have produced a total of eight cards, with Barcelona seeing five of these.
The Catalans showed a tempestuous spirit against PSG in midweek as the match ran away from them, with six on-field cards brandished to players in the Blaugrana. Real Madrid have not seen more than two yellows in their last six, meanwhile.
Barcelona look well priced at 1.83 to see more cards, especially given that they have seen 121 in all competitions this term compared to their rivals 89.
The last time these sides met in La Liga, Dani Carvajal was the chief criminal as he gave away five free kicks. At 1.22, he looks a good bet to give up another in this game. He will be up against Raphinha, who earns 2.09 fouls per 90 – the highest figure among Xavi’s likely starters.
As for the Barcelona squad, midfielder Sergi Roberto is interesting value at 1.25. He missed the midweek game against PSG because of a ban and is one of six likely starters who has committed over 1 foul per 90 on average this season.
Joao Cancelo leads the way on 1.33 fouls per 90 but the experienced midfielder is not far behind on 1.28. Roberto’s price is significantly longer than the right back’s, who is on offer at just 1.14.
Frenkie de Jong at a price of 1.3 is another to watch. He sits at 1.17 fouls per 90 but actually has more multi-foul matches (11) than games when he has committed exactly one foul. Backing him to give away at least two free kicks at 2.4 could, therefore, be a shrewd move. He gave away two fouls in the Supercopa meeting.
Predictions:
⚽ Dani Carvajal to commit 2+ fouls @ 2.10
⚽ Sergi Roberto to commit 1+ fouls @ 1.25
⚽ Frenkie de Jong to commit 2+ fouls @ 2.40
