Ritchie Edhouse and Connor Scutt square off in an intriguing-looking clash at the top of Group D at the Grand Slam of Darts on Sunday afternoon. Both players certainly laid down a marker during their respective day one triumphs, with Edhouse hammering Ross Smith 5-1, while Scutt stunned Dave Chisnall with a remarkable 5-0 whitewash.

It’s Edhouse who heads into this encounter as the 1.73 favourite and on current form he looks too big to ignore. ‘Madhouse’ is riding a serious wave of momentum at the moment after securing a maiden major honour by lifting the European Championship title last month. Edhouse defeated Gian van Veen, Michael Smith, Gary Anderson, Luke Woodhouse and Jermaine Wattimena on his way to glory.

His European Championship exploits are no flash in the pan either. The 41-year-old has been a model of consistency on the European Tour in 2024, not to mention he also reached a Players Championship semi-final,  as well as qualifying for the World Matchplay for the first time earlier this year.

Edhouse averaged just under 104 against Smith on Saturday and he also won the 180  battle 3-0. While Scutt produced a stunning performance of his own to put Chisnall to the sword, It will be extremely tough for ‘The Sniper’ to replicate that effort against Edhouse. Admittedly, it’s unlikely to be as straightforward as the pre-match odds suggest, but Edhouse should have enough to get over the line and all but secure a spot in the knockout round.
