Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur
🏟
Saturday 1st October – 12:30PM KO
The 192nd North London Derby kicks off this weekends Premier League action at the Emirates Stadium with only a point separating the two sides. Arsenal come into this game leading the Premier League and boasting an unbeaten home record so far this season, scoring 8 goals in 3 games – only tasting defeat once all season (6W, 1L) away to Manchester United at the beginning of September. The Gunners seemingly brushed off that defeat after cruising to a comfortable 3-0 win over Brentford before the international break.
As for Tottenham a 6-2 dismantling of dismal Leicester City in the previous round, will have made Tottenham fans very confident going into this fixture especially with Heung Min-Son looking like the player he was last season after scoring a 13-minute second half hattrick.
This is shaping up to be an interesting encounter, both sides have found the back of the net in every game they’ve played this season, so I expect a hat full of goals. Both sides boast an average of 2.4 goals scored per game and with 5 clean sheets between the two sides BTTS is looking very attractive on this one.
Both Harry Kane and Gabriel Jesus each have a 7-goal contribution to their name and both strikers will be eager to add to that tally in a game neither team can really afford to lose. In recent years Spurs have struggled at the Emirates, last claiming a league victory back in 2010. Spurs only have one away win to their name so far this season coming against Nottingham Forest at the end of August.
I favour the home side in this one, but I can see goals in this with Arsenal scoring 17 and Spurs scoring 18 so far this season I expect a fast start and end to end action for majority of the game.

Bournemouth v Brentford
🏟
Saturday 1st October – 3:00PM KO
Brentford head down to the south coast on Saturday afternoon to face a rejuvenated Bournemouth side under Gary O’Neil. Both teams are sitting comfortably in the table, 12 and 9th respectively. Since Scott Parker was relieved of his duties around a month ago, we’ve seen the Cherries pick up 5 points from 3 games. They remain unbeaten in this short period and now look a much stronger proposition that what was seen early on in the season.
The most eye catching performance was at the City Ground, with a special 2nd half comeback, after finding themselves 2-0 behind at the break. They ran out 3-2 winners and will hope to spark a similar showing here. The visitors, Brentford, have had mixed fortunes of late with some varying results. They are however, in my opinion, punching above their weight but do look an established Premier League outfit under Thomas Frank.
I’m expecting an open game at the Vitality Stadium, with both sides capable of picking up the 3 points. Bournemouth now come into this fixture in much better form, consequently I’m backing them to score at least once. The Cherries have endured 2 tricky away fixtures most recently and have hit 4 goals in the process. Phillip Billing has been a key player in these games and has displayed this with some excellent performances. He managed to notch in both of the mentioned away matches, a clever finish at St James Park and an absolute screamer away to Forest. The Danish International may be ready to produce the goods once again.
Another player who will be targeting a goal in this clash is Dominic Solanke. Having got off the mark a couple of games back, this is another ideal opportunity for him to fill his boots. The visitors have conceded in every single match this season and this stand-alone statistic allows me to back the Cherries to bag 1 or more goals.
Brentford have found the back of the net in 9 of their last 10 matches in the Premier League. Thomas Frank has plenty of attacking options at his disposal. He’s most likely to go with the tried and tested duo of Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbuemo, with Yoan Wissa pushing for a start on the wing too. Between the trio, they have 9 goals in total, 5 of which have come from Toney. His fabulous form earnt him a recent call up to the national team and will be keen to impress further with the World Cup upcoming.
The Bees strong scoring form goes back to the end of last season and up against Bournemouth, this is an ideal opportunity to take advantage. The away side will fancy their chances of scoring, much like myself and with the form to back it up, there’s every chance we’ll see both teams score.
My gut feeling is that this will be a really entertaining affair for the neutral and I’m siding with BTTS as my selection.

Liverpool v Brighton
🏟
Saturday 1st October – 3:00PM KO
Liverpool fans will be hoping the unexpected three-week break will be benefit the Reds giving manager Jurgen Klopp time to reflect and prepare his side for this fixture having encountered a tricky start to the season with Liverpool sat in 8th with 9 points after 6 games.
As for the away side, they welcome new manager Roberto De Zerbi who will be licking his lips at the prospect of beginning his reign with an Anfield upset, something that not many teams are able to do with the reds boasting a 26-game unbeaten run at home in the league with 20 wins and 6 draws.
Before the departure of Graham Potter Brighton looked a very dangerous side with only one loss to their name so far this season sat comfortably in 4th place. A joy to watch at times – we all hope De Zerbi continues that aggressive style in midfield and looks to use Trossard on the wing to cause problems down the channels.
Brighton will arrive at Anfield with no fear having walked away with 4 points from their previous two visits scoring 3 times. Also, putting 5 past Leicester in their last game will give them confidence coming up against a Liverpool side that seem to be struggling defensively and only managed to keep two clean sheets so far this season.
Going forward Liverpool still look dangerous scoring 15 goals but with Mo Salah yet to rediscover his phenomenal Liverpool form, everyone knows that this can be so much better. The Egyptian has played Brighton 10 times scoring 6 and assisting 5. So, Brighton will be more than aware the threat he can cause.
A sold-out Anfield will give Liverpool that 12th man they need in order to get the result over the line but nevertheless Brighton are a very dangerous outfit this season and with a new manager desperate to start positively I can see the away side scoring.

Southampton v Everton
🏟
Saturday 1st October – 3:00PM KO
Only goal difference separates these two sides who are placed 14th and 13th respectively. A situation that both sides wouldn’t have wanted after picking up 7 points from the first 7 games. It’s clear to see both sides are struggling to find the net with no recognised No 9 starting regularly. Everton, who managed to pick up 3 points for the first time this season in a 1-0-win vs West Ham before the international break. As for the home side, they are yet to keep a clean sheet in the league – form that is a major concern for manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.
I struggle to see goals in this one and with only 1 of the previous 5 meetings between the two sides ending with over 2.5 goals, it’s to bet against it. Only once this season has Everton been involved in a game that has seen 3 or more goals – making most games a boring spectacle for Toffees fans. Although, Everton currently boast the joint second-best defensive record in the league but struggling to score goals is what will concern Frank Lampard.
St Mary’s has proven a difficult place for Everton in recent years losing 5 of the last 6 visits to the coast.
The potential return of Dominic Calvert-Lewin will hopefully give the toffees a bigger threat in front of goal, but Lampard’s side are only averaging 1 chance per game, the Englishman will have to be clinical in order to make an impact on this lack lustre Everton side.
This game could go either way, but one thing is for sure goals will be drier than the weather.
