LIKEALOT is certainly one of the most intriguing runners in this 1m4f handicap. The grey filly has shown promising form in handicaps - including an all-weather success at this journey. She reappeared with a fine 4th at Chester, in this grade, running on strongly over an inadequate trip.

The rise in distance is likely to bring about further improvement, and I believe she may be ahead of her handicap mark of 92 - for a trainer who excels with similar types.

ASMEN WARRIOR arrives at the Berkshire venue, with excellent each-way claims, for a trainer in tremendous form. The son of Saxon Warrior is a dual winner, who built on a series of good runs, with an overdue success at Newmarket’s July course, earlier this month.

The mile trip on quick ground has certainly been a distinct advantage, and the form of his last win has been boosted - the 2nd landed a decent Sandown handicap on Friday. I would be disappointed if he couldn’t at least reach the placings if repeating his best effort here.

Despite this race being such a competitive contest, I’m hopeful that course winner, RHYTHM N HOOVES, can bounce back to something like his best, under optimum conditions. He is now a well-handicapped horse - 7lb below his last winning mark - and we may find that the first-time visor is a catalyst for improvement.

His best sprinting form isn’t far off the level required to win this, with his odds more than fair, from an each-way perspective.

THE CARIBBEAN showed better form than his form figure of seven suggested at Newbury last time. The five-year-old travelled powerfully into the race, easily looking the most likely winner, before his effort petered out.

That was his first run since February, so he may have needed it, which means there could be more to come second-time-out. I’m hoping that the majority of punters missed watching the whole of that race, which means he goes under the radar here.

I’m fully expecting TOULEEN to prove hard to pass, in the G3 Valiant Stakes over a mile. The Owen Burrows-trained three-year-old has at least 7lb in hand on official figures, and she arrives after a career-best performance. She firmly improved on a solid 6th in the G1 1000 Guineas, when registering an excellent 2nd G1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

She was only beaten by a top Aidan O’Brien filly that day, with a repeat effort surely good enough this time around.

IT DUNT MARRA sets a high standard to this race, after showing plenty of promise in both career outings. The youngster, from the Ollie Sangster stable, debuted with a fine 2nd at Goodwood.

He improved when 6th in Listed company next time, and he should prove hard to catch on this significant drop in class. Godolphin newcomer, Catching Dreams, would be an obvious concern if attracting market support, but would need to run to an official rating in excess of 80 to beat the selection.
