Empoli v Spezia
🏟
Saturday 9th April – 2:00PM KO
This is a very big game at the bottom of the table and both teams will feel that if they win, they’ve effectively secured their Serie A status for next season. Both of these teams have been in very poor form in the second half of the season but Spezia have developed a knack for winning the games that really matter.
Recent victories against Cagliari and Venezia have given them a 10 point advantage over the team in 18th place. Spezia will go above Empoli in the table if they take all three points on Saturday.
Empoli have not won in the league since they beat Napoli on December 12 which is why they have been dragged further and further towards the drop zone. They’ll be hoping there are enough worse teams beneath them this season but it is hard to picture them getting a comfortable win against Spezia.
It’ll be a very tense affair and the sort of game that could well be settled by a singular goal. Few chances will be created and the points will go to whichever set of forwards are more clinical on the day.
Many players within Empoli’s team have been linked with moves to bigger clubs after their excellent first half of the season. Their stock has only dropped since Christmas and they will know that relegation from Serie A will hinder their chances of a good move.

Inter v Verona
🏟
Saturday 9th April – 5:00PM KO
Inter’s victory over Juventus last weekend has breathed new life into their title challenge and given the game in hand, they will feel they can definitely defend their crown. They’re now just four points behind AC Milan who drew with Bologna on Monday night. The situation is still out of the Nerazzurri’s hands but they’re certainly in much better shape than they were this time last week.
To build on that victory in Turin with a win over Hellas Verona will not be an easy thing to do. Igor Tudor’s side have caused the big teams problems this season, beating Lazio, Juventus, and Roma. They have forwards that can hurt anyone such as Giovanni Simeone, Antonin Barak, and Gianluca Caprari. Unfortunately for the Gialloblu, Barak is injured for this game. Daniel Bessa is likely to fill in.
For that reason, it is very plausible that they will find the back of the net at the Giuseppe Meazza on Saturday evening. Incidentally, Simeone is the player with the most goals against the top seven teams in Serie A this season.
Inter did not look like they had returned to their prolific best against Juventus but the simple fact that they won the game could be enough to reinvigorate the likes of Edin Dzeko and Alexis Sanchez. Lautaro Martinez is suspended for this game.
Nicolo Barella also put in a promising performance and a return to his best form could be what makes the difference for Inter. It will certainly not be a straightforward victory for Inter and it could be a goal-laden match at San Siro.

Prediction: Both Teams to Score, 1.80 on Betfair (⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Cagliari v Juventus
🏟
Saturday 9th April – 7:45PM KO
Juventus’ defeat to Inter last Sunday was actually their first loss in the league since November 27. There have been plenty of draws in that unbeaten run but Massimiliano Allegri has made his team extremely hard to beat.
That is very bad news for Cagliari who have now lost four games in a row and are at serious risk of being pipped to safety by Venezia or Genoa. The Sardinians are three points ahead of those two teams and Venezia have a game in hand.
As for Juventus, they will still be playing to the objective of winning Serie A even though they are now eight points behind AC Milan. It’ll be a test of the Bianconeri’s resolve to see if they can bounce back from that defeat against Inter, a game in which they were certainly the more creative team.
They are very likely to find the back of the net against Cagliari and given the strong defence that Juve have boasted this season, a clean sheet is certainly on the cards
Paulo Dybala was given a start by Allegri against Inter despite it recently becoming clear that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season and he put in a very confident performance. If he can combine effectively with Dusan Vlahovic for the rest of the season Juventus can certainly close that gap to the top and will certainly be able to get the better of Cagliari on Saturday evening. They will need to because Alvaro Morata is suspended.
