Sevilla will be quietly confident going into tonight given their recent run of form having recorded three straight La Liga wins. Their most recent win, a 2-1 victory over reigning champions Atletico Madrid will have given them plenty of confidence. They now sit 2nd in La Liga going into tonight and following Real Madrid’s shock home draw with minnows Cadiz yesterday, they could narrow the gap between themselves and the league leaders to just 3 points with a win.
As for Barca, well it hasn’t gone swimmingly for Xavi it has to be said. They have to win convincingly in any of his seven matches in all competitions and will of course be playing Europa League football in the New Year which is simply not acceptable for a club of their size & stature. Nevertheless, 10 points from a possible 15 is respectable enough when taking everything into consideration, and it has left the Catalan giants within touching distance of the top four.
This game is massively important for both sides and their respective goals this season. Fancy it to be feisty with so much on the line and with Carlos Del Cerro officiating there should be plenty of cards dished out. As ever, below are my three favorite Bet Builder tips & predictions for this one. Good Luck!

Sevilla v Barcelona Bet Builder Tips & Predictions
Sevilla Double Chance
I mentioned in the introduction that Sevilla will fancy their chances tonight against a depleted Barca side and I feel they have more than enough about them to get a result tonight. Just one loss in their last 10 in the league and they showed recently in their win against Atletico that they have what it takes to get results against the bigger sides in the division.
Their home form has to be mentioned too. They remain unbeaten at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan where seven wins and a draw have been recorded from their eight La Liga games played there this season. They also take on a Barca side who are truly woeful on their travels. They have claimed just one away league win all season and I don’t expect them to improve that record against a quality Sevilla side. Barca also arrive in Seville missing a mountain of important players. Dest, Pedri, Sergi Roberto, Ansu Fati, and Depay are all expected to miss out here leaving Barca extremely short. Fancy the hosts to at the very least pick up a draw here and in all honesty probably go on to win the game.
Phillipe Coutinho 1+ Shots on Target
Now, I am not going to suggest that it has worked out for Coutinho at Barcelona. He did cost £121 million when he signed for Liverpool back in 2018 and was supposed to be the man to lead the club forward. Injuries within the squad mean he will very likely be handed a start tonight and with January upcoming, the Brazilian international will be very keen to put himself in the shop window. He is still only 29 and remains a top-notch player and if he can rediscover his confidence and form he remains a genuine world-class footballer.
Despite his struggles, as you can see from the Cheat Sheet he is comfortably the most prolific Barca player for both shots and shots on target. He will likely be on set pieces and has a remarkable right foot and will be encouraged by Xavi to take shots on whenever possible with shots from the distance the most likely route to goal given the quality of the Sevilla backline. He is a generous price on Paddy Power (1.67) and looks the most valuable option for a shot on target tonight.
Gavi to be Shown a Card
We of course finish with a card and with Del Cerro in charge tonight there should be plenty of them! He averages a massive 5.75 yellow cards per game making him one of the most prolific in the league and I fancy quite a few to be dished out tonight given the magnitude of the fixture.
Why Gavi? Well firstly let me just say what a tremendous footballer he is. At just 17 years of age there is no doubt he is going to be a star and he is already one of the most important players in the Barca midfield. He does however get caught out positionally at times which is unsurprising given his age and lack of experience at this level. From the Cheat Sheet you can see he ranks highly on both fouls committed (2.34) and yellow cards (4) and up against a quality Sevilla midfield which will likely contain the experienced Ivan Rakitic, Joan Jordan and Fernando I could see the young Gavi coming unstuck.
