Sheffield United v Man United
📅
Date: Saturday 21st October
🏆
Competition: Premier League
⏰
Kick off: 20:00
📺
Watch Live: Sky Sports Main Event
The final Premier League game of a packed Saturday sees Erik ten Hag’s Man United take a trip to face Paul Heckingbottom’s Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. Another game that Man United need to win, after a disappointing start to the season there is simply no room for failure in matches like this.
Sheffield United are also desperate for their first win of the season. They sit bottom of the league with just a single point and a -16 goal difference. This is a stark contrast to the last time they entered the Premier League as a newly promoted team. Back in 2019/20 they finished ninth in the league.
If they can recapture any of that old spirit and make Bramall Lane a fortress again, they could still evade relegation. However it’s looking increasingly likely that they’ll be going straight back down.
Today we’ve got some Sheffield United v Man United Bet Builder tips for you. We’ve picked out two levels after heavily researching the game and using our Cheat Sheet which can also be found on this page.

Sheffield United in dire form
Sheffield United have been comfortably the worst team in the Premier League this season. This is even more shocking when you consider that Luton are also in this division.,,
No disrespect to Luton but when you compare the size of the clubs it really is no competition. The tip of the iceberg for Sheffield United was an 8-0 home defeat to Newcastle United. Just a goal away from equalling the heaviest defeats in Premier League history.
The real worrying part of that particular game was the fact it was at home. With their own fans behind them they were absolutely obliterated. Since then they’ve travelled to London twice to face West ham and Fulham. Both matches ended in defeat.
Facing Man United will be a scary concept for a side in this poor form. As much as United haven’t had an ideal start, they still have plenty of high quality players that will stir up quite the threat for Heckingbottom’s team.
Sheffield United team news
Perhaps the biggest injury concern for Sheffield United is central defender Chris Basham. If you saw the video of his injury, you’ll know exactly why. It was one of those horror injuries that you never want to see in football. He’s expected to be out until March at the earliest.
They will also be without players such as John Egan, Tom Davies, William Osula and George Baldock, just to name a few. Fortunately for the Blades, despite an extensive injury list, they are still able to call on their full-strength front three of Cameron Archer, Gustavo Hamer and Ollie McBurnie.
Man United back in business?
Man United have had a very poor start to the season and things looked even more bleak as they entered injury time a goal down to Brentford at home. However they looked to the bench and Scott McTominay came on and bagged two goals to win them the game and turn Old Trafford into chaos.
This kind of result was exactly what United needed. It proved that they won’t just fall and be beaten. Too many times this season they have fallen behind and looked flat. Three points before the international break was ideal. They also have key personnel returning from injury, which will certainly help.
A second win on the bounce would be massive for United. The following Tuesday they have a hugely important UCL bout against Copenhagen which has become a must win after they fell flat against both Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.
This next week will be a real test of character for these United players, if they can carve out a couple of results it will give them the confidence they need to beat Man City in the derby next Sunday.
Man United team news
Man United are going through something of an injury crisis, and will definitely be without the services of Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Aaron Wan Bissaka, Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez amongst others.
Raphael Varane, Sergio Reguilon and Sofyan Amrabat are doubtful but could start the game. United do however retain three key pieces of their attack, with Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes all fit to face the Blades.

ABC’s 3/1 Sheffield United v Man United bet builder
🛑 Anel Ahmedhodzic to commit 1+ fouls
📈
Odds: 1.30
Ahmedhodzic has committed the most fouls of any Sheffield United player this season and he’ll be up against Rasmus Hojlund who has been fouled once per game on average.
He’ll also be tasked with stopping Marcus Rashford who loves isolating centre-backs when coming inside onto his favoured right peg. The Bosnian will have a lot to handle.

🛑 Sergio Reguilon to commit 1+ fouls
📈
Odds: 1.53
Reguilon is likely to return to Man United’s first team squad after a period on the sidelines. He has been a brilliant acquisition for Erik ten Hag’s team but has often lacked discipline.
This comes largely due to his tenacious nature, He often runs out of position to track a runner and will end up committing a foul.

🧤 Andre Onana to make 2+ saves
📈
Odds: 1.73
Andre Onana has had a tricky start to life as Man United number 1. He has suffered defeats, made mistakes and faced a lot of media criticism. Despite this, he will maintain his place and we still believe he’ll come good.
United tend to concede a lot of shots on target this season. Largely due to their weakened defence which remains without Martinez and Varane. Burnley had Onana working on a few occasions in their defeat to United. Sheffield United will test him a couple of times.

🎯 Rasmus Hojlund to have 1+ shots on target
📈
Odds: 1.22
Hojlund has been a revelation for Man United so far this season. Particularly in the UCL. That first PL goal still eludes him after having one disallowed against Brighton.
He is coming off the back of a brilliant international break with Denmark. Only Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku have scored more goals in the Euro Qualifiers than Rasmus Hojlund. This game could get scrappy and his aerial presence and ability to poach goals make him a perfect pick for a goal, or at least a shot on target.

🛑 Anel Ahmedhodzic to commit 1+ fouls
📈
Odds: 1.30
With his usual centre-back partners sidelined, this is likely to be a rough afternoon for Ahmedhodzic with the pacy pairing of Marcus Rashford and Ramus Hojlund attempting to run at the Sheffield United backline.
Reguilon will also be attacking down his flank, and he draws the most fouls of any United player, making a tough assignment for the Bosnian centre-back even tougher.

🛑 Sergio Reguilon to commit 1+ fouls
📈
Odds: 1.53
Sheffield United’s game plan will be to hit United on the counter, especially with Casemiro absent, and Amrabat potentially not fit to play the full 90 minutes.
Reguilon and Dalot will still be expected to join the attack, giving Sheffield United the chance to get in behind, and perhaps forcing the two fullbacks into giving away fouls to break up counters.

🧤 Andre Onana to make 2+ saves
📈
Odds: 1.73
In 11 starts this season, Onana has failed to make two saves only twice, against Crystal Palace and Galatasaray.
Nottingham Forest forced the Cameroonian into two saves, and fellow promoted side Burnley saw United’s keeper making four stops.
Sheffield United have caused problems for Spurs and Man City this season, so they will likely find some joy against this makeshift United backline who have conceded an average of 4.7 shots on target per game this season.

⚽ Rasmus Hojlund to score anytime
📈
Odds: 2.10
Whilst the first Premier League goal has so far eluded him, it will surely come soon for the Danish striker.
He has already found the net in Europe, and this could be the perfect game to open his account. Though he may struggle to show his pace against what is likely to be a low block, he has aerial ability and a presence in the box that will serve him well against a tall and powerful Sheffield United defence.
This is the worst defensive side in the division, so he should have at least a few good chances to find the net today.
