Sheffield United v Sunderland Bet Builder Tips & Predictions

Andy Robson
Andy Robson is the most popular betting tipster in the UK. With a combined following in excess of 1 million people across his social media channels, Andy has built a loyal audience by consistently providing quality betting content for over nine years. He is the founder of Andy’s Bet Club, which he launched in 2019.
It would be a tough argument to say which of these clubs wear the red and white stripes more famously, but it is also a pretty tough argument to make for whichever team you support in this clash.
United probably are the deserved favourites having finished in the playoff places last term following a two-year stint in the Premier League. In all of that time Sunderland were floundering in the third year until Alex Neil took over and turned things around for The Black Cats. It is Neil that gives me faith in this Sunderland team and my initial approach for this Bet Builder is that Sunderland are perhaps the side with more value on their attacking bets.
Sheffield United v Sunderland Bet Builder Tips
Under 3.5 Goals
No-one really goes to Brammall Lane and gets much change out of The Blades though. In 2021/22 they averaged 1.91 points per match, a figure that improves to over 2PPM when solely taking into account Paul Heckingborom's reign. They conceded only 0.65 goals per game across the season as well.
Translating that into this game we saw that United dominated another tricky home game against Millwall recently, including another clean sheet. I don't see many goals here either, a narrow home win or a low scoring draw appear to be the by far most likely results and so Under 3.5 goals in the match is the first addition to the Bet Builder.
Ross Stewart 1+ Shot on Target
Despite the perceived lack of goals there is still some juice in Sunderland attacking markets, as mentioned above. Ross Stewart has been Sunderland's key attacker for over a year now and although he has been joined in a front two now with Everton loanee Ellis Simms, the Scotsman has still maintained his record of having at least one shot on target in every match this season. This strong trend means that he is an attractive price to be added into our Bet Builder.
Sander Berge 1+ Shot on Target
Despite probably not fulfilling the potential that his price tag suggested, Sander Berge is still a destructive and talented one man wrecking ball of a midfielder when he's on song. Well suited to The Championship because of his physique and strong running ability he has licence in this Sheffield United side to be an attacking threat.
Over a big 50 match sample, the Norwegian averages 0.99 shots per 90, but over the last 10 that shoots up to 1.44 per 90, and, importantly, he has played the full 90 on every occasion as well. Each of his shots this season has been on target as well so taking him for a shot on target here in the Bet Builder is a wise move.
Over 1.5 Sunderland Cards
We will complete the builder by looking into Sunderland's disciplinary record. I expect this to be a competitive match with 1v1 duels all over the field, especially with both sides highly likely to be adopting 3 at the back formations. The wing back battle will be intense, looking into that for a minute it is interesting to note that Jack Clarke is high up on the list of both fouls drawn and fouls condensed for Sunderland. Indeed, he has two cautions to his name already in three matches. Sunderland captain Corry Evans has 3 in 3. However, instead of backing an individual to be cautioned it is safer to predict that two or more Sunderland players will make it into the referee's book.
