Slovenia v Serbia Bet Builder Tips & Longshot
Group C matchday 2 gets underway on Thursday afternoon as Slovenia and Serbia go head-to-head with a massive three points on the line.
Serbia’s loss to England in the first match day was perhaps not a tremendous surprise, but their efforts were certainly courageous. They’ll be hoping that resilience can be replicated as they face a Slovenia side who struck late on to earn themselves a point against Denmark last week following a reasonably lacklustre Euro 2024 debut.
Below, we’ve put together a bet builder at 3/1 and a longshot at 9/1 for Thursday’s clash between Slovenia and Serbia and we also have a Slovenia v Serbia betting preview that dives into the data behind this Group C clash alongside our experts most confident betting selections for this fixture.

3/1 Slovenia v Serbia Bet Builder Tip

🛑 Adam Cerin to commit 2+ fouls
📈 Odds: 1.53
The Slovenian central midfielder will alway have his work cut out in a traditional 4-4-2 set up, which is favoured by Slovenia at the moment. He will be competing against Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Sasa Lukic, who are very experienced and high foul rate players.
Cerin conceded five fouls against Denmark, which is not the first time that he has reached that kind of number in his recent international past. He also committed five fouls against Serbia the last time that the nations met in the Nations League in 2022.
The midfielder has now gone nine consecutive competitive matches where he has conceded at least one foul while playing for Slovenia, and has crossed the two or more foul line in each of his last three matches.
🟨 Over 2.5 cards
📈 Odds: 1.29
There is every reason to believe that the 2.5 card line is attackable in this bet builder.
The tournament card average is running at around 3.2 cards per match at the moment, which is obviously above the line required here.
The history between these two nations suggests that cards could be on the agenda. Over two friendlies and two Nations League matches, the yellow card average is 5.5 cards per match. Only once out of the four was the card number less than 2.5, that was the two given out in a comfortable 4-1 win for Serbia in Belgrade, surely the best conditions for a low card match.
Thirdly, the referee is no stranger to yellow cards having averaged 5.45 yellows per match in his career. While he will referee to the rules set out for this tournament, it is encouraging that the referee knows where his cards are kept.
🩹 Benjamin Sesko to be fouled 1+ times
📈 Odds: 1.73
Benjamin Sesko has been fouled four times in the opening match against Denmark and this could be part of a trend developing in this tournament.
Physical centre forwards have been all the rage in this Euro 2024, and Serbia certainly found a way of dealing with Harry Kane in the last match that they played. While one could say that Kane was playing for fouls to an extent in the England v Serbia match, especially in the second half, Serbia fouled the England captain six times.
Sesko is very much at the start of his career but he should be learning now how to play that key centre forward role in terms of getting his body between the ball and his defender. It will be surprising if the likes of Nikola Milenkovic can resist trying to win that ball from behind and fouling the young Slovenian.
9/1 Slovenia v Serbia Longshot

🩹 Petar Stojanovic to be fouled 2+ times
📈 Odds: 1.83
The Slovenian winger has a long fouls against record that looks good value for the prices at the bookmakers.
He averages 1.39 fouls against over the last set of competitive fixtures since the last Euros, but they seem to come in bursts. He was fouled six times in the final qualifier for the tournament, and then three times against Northern Ireland and three against Finland in the two matches before that.
While he avoided being fouled in the opening match here, the record of 12 fouls won in the three internationals before that suggests that the price he is here is worth taking on, especially in a match where fouls might be expected in general.
Serbia committed 18 fouls against England, one of the highest numbers in Gameweek 1 of Euro 2024.
🎯 Dusan Vlahovic to have 3+ shots
📈 Odds: 1.36
Vlahovic looked sharp against England, producing the most meaningful shot against Jordan Pickford with a rasping drive from outside the box.
Indeed, the Juventus striker’s record of shots for Serbia is slightly underrated. The two that he fired off against England meant that he now averages 4.4 shots per 90 up to and including the last World Cup. This is a great record which is almost a shot and a half per 90 better than Aleksandar Mitrovic’s.
Indeed, when he has started for Serbia in that time his record for shots is two (v England), five v Hungary, three v Lithuania, and three v Switzerland.
In a game where Serbia need a positive result he is likely to get chances to fire off a few more shots in this match, akin to the likes of Christian Eriksen for Denmark who got five shots away against Slovenia in the opening week.
🩹 Filip Mladenovic to be fouled 3+ times
📈 Odds: 3.30
The Serbian left wing back has something of a free run at this position now that the unfortunate Filip Kostic got injured against England.
While this is bad news for Serbia, it does open up an intriguing possibility. Mladenovic is likely to play the full 90 minutes in this match, and when he has started for Serbia in the last couple of years he has been a fouls magnet.
His direct style caused problems for England, who fouled him twice in the second half last week, and in his two starts for Serbia in qualification he amassed six fouls against him. His per 90 minute fouls won rate is over two, so hoping for three in 90 minutes is not beyond the realms of possibility, especially considering the four he received in another former Yugoslavian republic derby against Montenegro in qualification.
