The La Liga side are quite simply much the better side. They are experienced Champions League campaigners and won away to PSG in their most recent UCL road match.

Sparta Prague aren’t even the best team in their own country right now and are 14 points behind Slavia Prague in the Czech League. They started the UCL campaign well with two strong results but have since struggled, including a poor defeat at home to Brest.

This should be an away victory for Atletico and they know they must cash in on these easier fixtures to ensure their long term Champions League ambitions.

The last three seasons has seen Griezmann average about 40% shot on target accuracy which isn’t too bad considering he’s often on free kicks and shoots from distance.

In La Liga, 6 of his 16 shots have been on target this season and in the previous two UCL campaigns, 20 of his 41 attempts tested the keeper. He has not been quite as sharp this season in Europe, registering just one shot on target in four games. The Frenchman is overdue and this could be the perfect fixture for him.

Taking Griezmann just to have a single shot on target or more looks like a nice bet builder addition at a very healthy price.

Lenglet has been carded in two of his last four appearances and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him go in the book again.

The fouls line looks like the best angle to go with though considering he averages 2.20 per 90 mins in La Liga. This is a player who is still settling onto the side and probably not a first choice starter. There could still be some nerves and Sparta Prague might even target him.

Finnish international Kaan Kairinen averages one foul per 90 mins in the Champions League and it is difficult to see him keeping things clean here. Sparta might be on the back foot at times and he comes up against a midfield which includes the likes of Conor Gallagher, Rodrigo De Paul and Pablo Barrios who are potential foul magnets.

Going up against Gallagher is a particular nightmare because he loves to get embroiled in scraps. This looks like a nice easy piece to add to any bet builder considering the type of match and opponents.

Atletico Madrid are the clear odds-on favourites to win this match and if they can get going early then this could be a lights to flag type of victory.

The Spanish outfit have only been winning in one match at half-time in the Champions League so far this season, but we must not ignore their very difficult fixture list. This is a far easier game which they can control from the outset. Atletico have only been losing at half time in 5 out of 18 matches in all competitions this season.

They are the sort of side who are likely to keep a clean sheet in the opening period so it might only require one goal for them to lead at the interval.

The Atletico lineup is difficult to predict here. They might go with one or two strikers with the potential for Julian Alvarez to fill the position. Former Villarreal man Alexander Sorloth, who came close to winning the golden boot in La Liga last season, is the current Atletico top scorer and is be worth backing to score anytime here.

Sorloth is in good form and scored in both of his last two competitive fixtures for club and country. He’s a strong physical type of centre forward who won’t mind toughing it out on a trip to Eastern Europe.

Sparta will have some opportunities, most likely on the break or from set pieces. One lively player for them is on the left wing cutting inside Lukas Haraslin. He averages two shots per 90 mins in the Champions League this season and will certainly have a go if presented with opportunities.

He recently came back from an injury layoff and scored at the weekend against Teplice. Haraslin could be keen to make his mark. Rather than take his overall shots line which is set generally at 2.5, backing him to have one or more shots on target could be the best way.

The hope is that he can connect well with one of his attempts when the chance comes his way.

There could be a lot of action revolving around the midfield here with both teams getting stuck in. It would be a surprise if many players in this area of the field managed to avoid fouling at least once.

With some individuals such as Connor Gallagher the odds are simply too low in this category, but Koke stands out as real value. He averages exactly one foul per 90 mins in La Liga this season and usually right in the heart of the action.
