Seeking to strengthen their position at the top of the Scottish Premiership, Hearts will travel to Paisley to take on St Mirren on Tuesday night.
Derek McInnes' men come into this clash off the back of a comfortable 3-0 win away at Dundee United on Saturday. That latest victory, combined with results elsewhere, sees Hearts now holding a six point lead at the top of the table.
As for St Mirren, they are now just three points above the relegation play-off spot following Saturday's 0-0 draw with Dundee.

📈 St Mirren v Hearts Form & Tactics
Since lifting the Scottish League Cup in mid-December, St Mirren have gone off the boil somewhat, managing only one win from their next eight Scottish Premiership outings, failing to take top honours from each of their previous seven. A goalless draw at home to Dundee on Saturday has tightened things at the wrong end of the table for Stephen Robinson’s side, who are now just three points above 11th-placed Kilmarnock.
Much of St Mirren’s struggles this season stem from a lack of cutting edge in front of goal. The Saints have netted a league-low 17 goals across their 23 top-flight matches, with Saturday’s goalless draw against Dundee marking the 11th time they have failed to strike. Discipline has also been an issue, with St Mirren collecting their third red card of the Scottish Premiership campaign at the weekend.
One crumb of comfort for the hosts is that they have twice denied Hearts victory at this venue this season.
Following a 2-2 home draw with title rivals Celtic, Hearts responded by brilliantly dismantling Dundee United 3-0 at Tannadice on Saturday night. That victory, combined with Rangers’ 1-1 draw at Hibs the following day, has Hearts six points clear at the top. A win on Tuesday could stretch that lead to nine points, at least temporarily.
Derek McInnes’ side have scored 2+ goals in a league-high 17 of their 24 Scottish Premiership matches this season, including nine of their 12 away games. It is also worth noting that the capital club have scored multiple goals in both of their previous two Scottish Premiership meetings with St Mirren this season.
Impressively, Hearts have kept a clean sheet in 11 of their 16 Scottish Premiership victories this season. Each of Hearts’ last four Scottish Premiership fixtures has seen at least one player dismissed.
📔 St Mirren v Hearts Formation & Team News
Stephen Robinson is known for setting his St Mirren side up in a well-structured 3-5-2 formation, though he opted for a slight tweak with a 3-4-3 system against Dundee on Saturday.
The Saints boss will need to make at least one change to his starting XI on Tuesday night following Jake Young’s dismissal last time out, with Mikael Mandron the leading contender to come back into the side. The hosts will also be without injured trio Josh Ayunga, Keanu Baccus and Mark O’Hara.
Following Saturday's 3-0 success at Tannadice, Derek McInnes is likely to line his side up in the same 4-2-3-1 formation at St Mirren Park on Tuesday night, with few changes expected to the starting XI.
The league leaders will again be without Calem Nieuwenhof, Cammy Devlin, Finlay Pollock, Lawrence Shankland and Stephen Kingsley, all of whom remain unavailable for the trip to Paisley.
On a brighter note, Beni Baningime is back in contention after serving a suspension.
