With both defences looking a little fragile and both teams desperate for points, I think Sunday’s clash in Paisley should produce at least two goals.

Admittedly, St Mirren aren’t a side you’d normally associate with goal-fests, yet 20 of their 29 Scottish Premiership matches this season have featured at least two goals. That includes each of the Saints’ previous two league meetings with Rangers this term, with goals coming from both sides in each of those encounters.

As for the visitors, 23 of their 29 top-flight fixtures this season have yielded over 1.5 goals, including 12 of their 14 assignments away from Ibrox. While last week’s Old Firm ended 0-0, goalless affairs have been a rarity in Rangers games of late. In fact, both teams have scored in each of the Light Blues’ last five Scottish Premiership matches - with all five of those contests seeing four or more goals.

I often target St Mirren games for corners and over 7.5 corners should be well within reach when they take on Rangers on Sunday. The Saints’ Scottish Premiership games this season are producing a league-high average of 11.14 corners per game. Part of that comes down to St Mirren themselves being strong corner performers in the top-flight this term, with only Celtic and Rangers averaging more team corners per 90.

Rangers, as tends to be the case, have also proven reliable on the flag kick front, with their top-flight fixtures generating an average 11.03 corners per game this season. What’s more, the Light Blues are averaging 6.79 team corners per 90, so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that the visitors could cover the over 7.5 line on their own here - especially against a St Mirren side capable of being stubborn opponents.

Further encouragement comes from the pair’s previous two meetings this season, which delivered total corner counts of nine and 12, respectively.

I’m keen to back Mikey Moore to register at least one shot on target during this contest. The Rangers forward has been my go-to player in this market this season - and for good reason. Moore is averaging 2.82 shots per game in the Scottish Premiership this term, and 1.17 shots on target to that same measure.

A closer look shows that the talented Tottenham loanee has landed this bet in 12 of his last 14 league outings, registering multiple on-target efforts against St Mirren at Ibrox across that sequence.

Now set to face a Saints side that have been defensively suspect all season, Moore looks well placed to hit the target again. The hosts are giving up an average of 4.49 shots on target per game in the Scottish top-flight this term, further strengthening the case for Moore to work Saints goalkeeper Shamal George at least once on Sunday afternoon.

I think Dan Nlundulu’s pace and power could trouble the Rangers defence on Sunday afternoon, making him an attractive option to hit the target at least once. Moreover, the St Mirren forward has scored in two of his last three appearances across all competitions, including last week’s 2-1 Scottish Cup win over Partick Thistle.

A closer look at his recent shot numbers adds further encouragement. Nlundulu has registered a combined total of four shots on target across his last four outings, including two in his most recent Scottish Premiership appearance away at Livingston, one of which found the net. The fact that the 27-year-old was on penalty duty last weekend only adds to the appeal of this bet.

While Rangers kept a clean sheet against Celtic in the Scottish Cup last Sunday, they have failed to shut out their opponents in each of their last five Scottish Premiership matches, conceding multiple goals in each of their last three - including away at bottom club Livingston. With that in mind, St Mirren should be able to carve out chances on Sunday, and Nlundulu looks the most likely Saint to force Jack Butland into action.
