Fulham come into this clash in a bit of a rut, following three successive Premier League losses, although those defeats have come against tough opposition. 📂 Stoke v Fulham Cheat Sheet
📈 Stoke v Fulham Form & Stats
Stoke failed to score for the third successive match against Charlton in midweek, as they were beaten 1-0 at The Valley. Prior to that, the Potters were involved in another uneventful game against a struggling West Brom side, which ended as a goalless stalemate. The hosts managed just 0.38 xG at the Hawthorns, while Stoke mustered up just 0.39 xG in return. Averaging just 2.0 goals per game in the Championship this season, Stoke haven’t been a particularly entertaining side to watch, but they have usually been solid at the back. On their day, they can be a frustrating opponent to face, and they will hope to keep Fulham at bay.
That promises to be no easy task, though. The Cottagers might not come into this clash in the best of form, but they did find chances against Man City at the Etihad in midweek and were unfortunate not to find the back of the net. Fulham managed 14 shots worth 1.42 xG.
Marco Silva’s men are currently sitting comfortably in mid table in the Premier League - 10 points off the European spots, but also well clear of any relegation dog fight. Fulham will have a bit of pressure to deliver in this game though, with a round of 16 spot up for grabs.
📔 Stoke v Fulham Formation & Team News
Stoke will opt for their strongest XI here, which means Sorba Thomas and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi should feature as the wide players. Lamine Cisse should remain up front in place of Milan Smit, hoping to cause problems on the break against the Premier League side. Ben Pearson could return to partner Seko in the double pivot.
Tom Cairney and Sasa Lukic are the only players unavailable to Marco Silva here, meaning Harrison Reed and Alex Iwobi could partner up in midfield. Rodrigo Muniz has recently returned from injury, so this could be an opportunity for him to build up some fitness, while Josh King could also return to the starting XI assuming there is some rotation. Benjamin Lecomte could get a rare start in between the sticks, while Oscar Bobb was fit enough to feature from the bench against his former club in midweek, and he will hope to make his first start for Fulham on Sunday afternoon.
