Degefors v Helsingborg
🏟
Sunday 15th May – 4:30PM KO
Stora Valla in Degefors is the venue for what is already (just eight gameweeks in) looking like a key clash at the bottom of the table. The side in 16th and bottom (Degefors) are playing host to Helsingborg who are 13th and just outside the drop zone.
Degefors come into the game on the back of a big win last weekend emerging as 3-2 victors against GIF Sundsvall to get their first points of the campaign. They were rewarded by a shift to a 4-5-1 formation that saw them put a four game goalless streak behind them. Abdelrahman Saidi will be full of confidence having grabbed a hat-trick at the end of that game with all his strikes coming in the last seven minutes.
At the back, the hosts are shipping goals having conceded a league high 18 goals including six in one game against Elfsborg. In fixtures in front of their own fans they have conceded nine (50% of these).
Helsingborg also have problems at the back having conceded ten times which is the joint-fourth worst record in the division. Seven of these goals have come on the road which has seen them fail to keep a clean sheet on their travels.
Attacking wise the Skane outfit are decent though having netted four times in total and in three of their four away games so far. Their attack is led by creative midfielder Taha Abdi Ali who has three goals in his last five appearances.
With both sides capable of going forward and causing problems but exposed at the back this leads to the obvious conclusion of backing both teams to score. This has happened in the three previous meetings between the pair in addition so this looks a very sensible play.

IFK Gothenburg v Varberg
🏟
Sunday 15th May – 4:30PM KO
Gamla Ullevi is the location of this Sunday afternoon Allsvenskan clash between two sides in the bottom-half of the table. Ninth placed IFK Gothenburg will be looking to find some form while 12th placed Varberg are aiming to keep themselves above the bottom three.
IFK Gothenburg are currently winless in their last four and have lost each of their last three games. All these defeats came against top seven opponents with two of these defeats coming against top three teams AIK and Malmo and they were competitive in all these fixtures.
At home, they have one win, one draw and one defeat. The loss came against Kalmar which is no disgrace while the draw was against a decent Djurgarden team and their victory was over Varnamo.
Their opponents Varberg are just three points beneath them from their opening seven matches. Varberg have taken just one point from their last four games having won two of their opening three. Most concerning among the results has been a recent home draw with Mjallby and a home loss to Sirius teams around them that they need to be beating if they want to stay up.
A home victory is probably not as short as it should be given the respective expected finishing positions of both teams. Varberg did win here last season but lost on their two previous visits.
Gothenburg are a solid home side who have won four of their last seven in front of their own fans. The visitors meanwhile have lost five of their last nine on the road in the league. So the recommended bet is to take the home side to come out with all three points.

Djurgarden v Malmo
🏟
Monday 16th May – 6:10PM KO
This game at the Tele2 Arena on Monday is probably the pick of the round in Allsvenskan as the defending champions Malmo travel to Djurgarden.
Under 2.5 goals is the play here at 8/11 with the Betfair Sportsbook. Under 2.5 goals has happened in each of the last five games for Malmo and in seven of eight league games this season. It is particular of note on the road where just three goals have been scored from a combined four games played. They lost 2-0 at AIK last time out and drew 0-0 at Hammarby which are sides of a similar level to Djurgarden.
Djurgrden have seen three of their last five games go under 2.5 goals. Although the Stockholm side tend to be involved in more open matches these sort of results tend to come against bottom-half opponents. In their fixtures with the more elite end of the table they have lost 1-0 to AIK and had a goalless draw with Elfsborg.
The head-to-head record between these teams also suggests that this fixture will be low-scoring with four of their last six meetings going under 2.5 goals. This includes a game between the pair at this very ground in the Swedish Cup back in March. On that occasion, it ended 1-0 to the Skane side with a 33rd minute goal from Isaac Kiese Thelin proving the difference on that occasion.
Under 2.5 goals is a common occurrence in Allsvenskan this campaign with just four of the 16 teams in the league having an average of over 2.5 goals. This is in contrast to the Swedish second tier (Superetten) where ten of the 16 sides have gone over this average.
In addition, when the top tier sides do battle then these matches are especially low-scoring so going against goals is the play. Throw in the fact that Malmo are regularly involved in tight fixtures and under 2.5 goals looks like the sensible play.
