Ostersund v Brommapojkarna
🏟
Saturday 20th August – 2:00PM KO
These are two sides that begin the weekend’s round of fixtures sitting very much at opposite ends of the table and with very different outlooks and views as the Superettan season begins to enter the final straights.
However, Ostersund do come into this on the back of some sort of revival. The hosts have recently enjoyed back-to-back victories against Skovde and Landskrona, who had been upwardly mobile and seeking top-half or even top-three finishes.
Their off-field financial issues have been well-documented and their Allsvenskan relegation just last season had been a long-time coming after the Graham Potter glory days of the mid-to-late 2010’s. They remain firmly at the bottom-of-the-table but they will be pleased to have given themselves a sniff of survival.
They now face a Brommapojkarna side, though, that have been absolutely outstanding of late. The visitors’ 1-0 win at home to AFC Eskilstuna last weekend, in their most recent outing, made it three successive victories for the away team and four wins in their last five matches. That run of form has extended their unbeaten run to seven matches as they recently moved into the top two and the automatic promotion places.
As well as that, under the management of Christer Mattiasson, they have played an enjoyable and entertaining style of football. In their 19 games so far this season, they have notched 40 goals and only runaway league leaders Halmstad have managed more.
Ostersund’s good form, as well as their home advantage, may give them some confidence to take into this match and attack Brommapojkarna but the promotion chasers should still come out on top.

Trelleborg v Dalkurd
🏟
Sunday 21st August – 12:00PM KO
This one is another one-sided Superettan game, or at least one that should be one-sided on paper.
Trelleborg come into this on the back of a thrilling 4-4 draw with Vasteras on Tuesday, making it back-to-back draws since they were hammered by runaway league leaders Halmstad in early August.
That easily explainable defeat for the hosts is one of just two losses in their last ten matches in the Swedish second division – a run that stretches all the way back to before the June international break. They sit just four points off third-place Brage ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures and will be expecting to continue to narrow that gap.
They now face a Dalkurd side that, under the management of former Ostersunds boss Amir Azrafshan, are battling against relegation. The club founded by the Kurdish diaspora of Borlange sit second-bottom in the Superettan table, following back-to-back defeats against fellow strugglers OIS, in a game in which they had won the league, and league leaders Halmstad.
With just five victories all season, it was always expected that Dalkurd would be battling against the drop. Just 17 goals scored in 19 games has been a major issue and that is reflected in the underlying data. Their expected goals is just 1.25 per game and that is among the lowest in the league. That number drops to 1.12 away from home. They have picked up just six points on the road and sit at the bottom of the Superettan away form table.
Trelleborg will be expected to win this one and, especially given their home advantage, win it relatively comfortably.

Brage v Osters
🏟
Sunday 21st August – 2:00PM KO
This should be an intriguing, cagey between two of the sides pushing towards the top end of Superettan and both sides are aiming for automatic promotion this season.
The two teams come into this on the back of some excellent form but both have been frustrated by recent back-to-back draws.
Brage, under the co-management of Jan Lindstedt and Kleber Saarenpaa, were frustrated by ten-man Landskrona in their most recent outing, last week. The hosts have lost just one of their last eight matches in all competitions and that came against the runaway league leaders Halmstad in mid-July.
They sit third in the table with the second best defensive record all season, having conceded just 19 goals in 19 games so far with the aforementioned Halmstad being the only team to have conceded fewer goals.
Osters finished the 2021 Superettan season just two points behind Helsingborg who were eventually promoted via the Allsvenskan/Superettan promotion/relegation playoff. They will have been expecting to go a few points better this time around and they may well do so.
Sitting one place and three points behind their upcoming opposition, the visitors come into this on the back of a frustrating 1-1 draw against ten-man Orebro – notice any similarities?
The visitors have lost just one of their last 11 matches after they recovered from a shaky start to mount a serious and seemingly sustained automatic promotion challenge, let alone a push for the top three.
These are two in-form and evenly matched sides that have proven over a sustained period of time that they are difficult to beat, a draw is likely but a low-scoring one is where the added value will be.

Halmstads v Vasteras
🏟
Sunday 21st August – 2:00PM KO
This should be one of the more one-sided games in the 2022 Superettan season with the runaway league leaders, Halmstad, facing a very average, at best, Vasteras side.
Under the management of Magnus Haglund, HBK suffered a shock relegation from the top-flight last season, losing to Helsingborg in the Allsvenskan/Superettan promotion/relegation playoff final. Since then, though, they have very much recovered.
After a slightly slow start to the campaign and a very minor mid-season blip, they have been comfortably the best team in the league and they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting nine points clear of Brommapojkarna at the top-of-the-table.
Their most recent outing was a 5-0 annihilation of Jonkopings Sodra last weekend, making it six successive victories for the hosts. They have scored 12 goals in their last three games and have scored more than two goals on seven occasions this season and in five of their last eight games.
They now face a Vasteras side that come into this on the back of a thrilling 4-4 draw at home to Trelleborg on Tuesday. Vasteras are now winless in their last five matches and they have slipped to just above the bottom three.
They have remained entertaining, albeit entirely ineffective, of late, though. Their 19 games so far this season have consisted of 62 goals.
Halmstad will be expected to win this one and given the goal scoring habits of both sides, it could well be an entertaining encounter, too.

Prediction: Halmstads Win & Over 1.5 Goals, 1.67 on Betfair (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
