ESNA is a half-sister to five winners and showed an abundance of ability, when debuting over track and trip last month. The Starman filly kept on nicely behind one who ran promisingly in a decent Newmarket maiden beforehand.

She handled the soft conditions well that day and hails from a stable well-known for making plenty of progress from their first runs. 

I was impressed with MISS WONG last time, when winning an all-weather handicap. The Study Of Man filly is from a soft-ground-loving family and ought to appreciate conditions this afternoon.

She is up 4lb for that Kempton win but seems to be an improving type and is completely unexposed. 

I’m hoping the return to Sandown can help DANGER ALERT bounce back to his best. The son of Ardad has finished second in both course visits - notably from a 7lb higher mark on soft ground last time.

I believe the stiff finish can play to his strengths and prove a likely winner for the first selection of the multiple wager.

The consistent ARNAZ certainly holds leading claims of being involved when it matters the most, in this 6f handicap.

The Ed Walker-trained four-year-old was beaten by a subsequent winner on the all-weather last time and could go one better switched back to turf – especially if any rain falls – having shown solid form on a soft surface.

It would be foolish to dismiss the claims of ANNA SWAN, despite seemingly having plenty to find on the figures. The Almanzor filly finished last of six in an all-weather Group Three last time, but can be excused for that poor effort.

She is down in class and returns to grass with each-way appeal – especially if the ground rides on the slow side of good – having finished an excellent second behind a subsequent scorer at Goodwood on soft two runs back. She is worth risking for a stable in great form (14 winners in the last fortnight).

This is a tricky 1m2f handicap but I have a sneaky suspicion that we haven’t seen the best of ATHERSTONE WARRIOR. The Coulsty gelding has only run in three handicaps and showed by far his best form of those at Epsom last time.

He ran a keeping-on fourth, behind a subsequent winner, and has been dropped a handy 3lb. Soft ground would play to his strengths and I think he is likely to be running on strongly up the stiff finish.
