Tottenham v Roma
⏰
Kick Off: Thursday 28th November at 20:00
🏆
Competition: UEFA Europa League
Roma travel to London to face off with Spurs in what’ll be Claudio Ranieri’s second match in charge of his third stint at the Giallorossi. Both sides been plagued with inconsistencies this season although Roma have faired worse both domestically and in Europe, most definitely coming into this clash as the underdogs.
⭐ Tottenham v Roma Best Bet
Roma’s poor form has left them vulnerable as of late, picking up just one point from their last four games and suffering six losses in their previous 10 matches. Ranieri’s tenure began on a weak note, with his side creating very little in their loss to Napoli, highlighting their ongoing struggles.
Tottenham, on the other hand, have been pretty impressive despite some inconsistencies under Ange Postecoglou. They’ve won 10 of their last 14 matches across all competitions, notably avoiding any draws. Their emphatic 4-0 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad in their most recent outing implies they should be up for the task on Thursday.
Given Roma’s dismal start to the campaign, anything less than a home win for Spurs would be a major disappointment.

👕 Tottenham v Roma Predicted XI
🔍 Tottenham v Roma Players to Watch
⚪ Pape Sarr
Sarr looks to have been significantly undervalued in the fouls market, despite his consistent record which has seen him commit at least one foul in each of his last 9 appearances. Notably, he achieved this while averaging just 46 minutes per game during this period.
Throughout the season, Sarr has drawn an impressive 2.55 fouls per 90 minutes in the Premier League, a trend that has also carried over into Europe, where he has sinned in three of his four Europa League outings.
He is likely to face Bryan Cristante, whose performances have been heavily criticised this season. Cristante’s individual mistakes have contributed to his domestic average of 1.57 fouls per 90, suggesting Sarr could find opportunities to exploit.
🟠 Gianluca Mancini
Mancini is averaging 1.00 fouls won per 90 minutes this season, slightly surpassing his 0.97 average from last season in Serie A.
This consistency is evident in his performances, where he has drawn at least one foul in 11 of his 14 appearances across all competitions (60+ minutes), including six fouls won across just two Europa League matches.
Mancini is set to clash with Solanke, who has averaged 1.72 fouls committed per 90 in the Premier League this season, accumulating 15 fouls in his last eight games.

💻 Tottenham v Roma Form and Tactics
The hosts will set up in a 4-3-3 which Ange Postecoglou adopts religiously with little change to Spurs’ tactical setup between games. This was called into question by some given their extensive injury list but they dismissed the critics in emphatic style when beating Man City 4-0 at the Etihad last time out.
They’ll be without Romero, Van de Ven, Vicario and promising youngster, Mikey Moore for this clash but that won’t prevent Ange from implementing his fast-paced attacking style.
Tottenham will aim to move the ball quickly while controlling possession and committing men forward, with the help of both fullbacks who will rotate into the midfield to provide additional support.
As for Roma, it remains to be seen how their new appointee, Claudio Ranieri will do, but there have been suggestions there’s a bit of a mismatch between his desired formation and the personnel at the club. In his first match in charge, Ranieri set up in a 4-4-2 as opposed to the 3-4-3 Ivan Juric opted for, although this did allow Angelino to revert to his natural position on the left of a back four.
The fullback was the silver lining in what was otherwise a dismal affair in which Roma slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Napoli, creating very little in the process.
Their only two chances both came from Angelino who excelled for the Giallorossi, although Ranieri will hope the return of Dybala will add a bit more firepower to their attack.

🏁 Tottenham v Roma Ref Watch
- Referee: Glenn Nyberg
- According to what we’ve seen from Nyberg before, the cards market might be best left alone given he’s averaged just 2.64 yellows per game over his career.
- Despite that, his average of 23.89 fouls per game is more in line with what one might expect in a typical game.
- Having gone down to 10 men last time around, Spurs fans may be relieved to hear the Norwegian referee has brandished just five red cards in his 74 games on record.
