Port Vale v Forest Green
🏟
Tuesday 1st February – 7:45PM KO
Forest Green Rovers spread their goals around the whole team which has helped make them the runaway leaders in League Two this season.
Rob Edwards’ high-flying side have fired a huge 55 goals in 26 games this term and are ten points clear at the top. Rovers’ prolific striking duo Jamille Matt and Matty Stevens have 18 and 17 goals each respectively and make up two of the top three top scorers in the division right now.
They aren’t just a two-man team though, with Nicky Cadden chipping in with six, Jack Aitchison getting five and Jake Young managing three as well.
Right-back Kane Wilson has nine assists to his name this season and gets forward at every opportunity. They have strength in depth too with versatile Dan Sweeney providing cover for the former West Bromwich Albion man if needed.
Rovers turn defence into attack quickly which makes them a tough opponent for every team they have come up against. This has been proven by their blistering run of 15 league games without a defeat. They also battered 2nd place Tranmere Rovers 4-0 away last time out.
Port Vale are in for a tough game and have won just once in their last five matches, scoring just twice in the process. This is because Darrell Clarke’s men are missing the presence of Jake Taylor in the centre of midfield and his replacements Ben Garrity and Brad Walker lack the same creativity, hence the lack of goals over recent weeks.
The Valiants have delved into the transfer window to sign Harry Charsley from Mansfield Town and Joel Cooper from Oxford United to counter this problem and add more of a spark into their midfield. However, the pair have lacked game time this season and could take a while to get back up to speed.

Swindon v Crawley
🏟
Tuesday 1st February – 7:45PM KO
Swindon Town have an abundance of creative players who have helped them rise into the promotion picture in League Two.
The Robins have delved into the transfer market this month to sign Josh Davison from Charlton Athletic on loan. He provides more pace and power up front to other options Harry Parsons or Jayden Mitchell-Lawson, who both lack experience and are not proven goal scorers. Davison has big boots to fill to replace the goals of Tyreece Simpson, who has returned to Ipswich Town following his impressive spell at the County Ground. However, he has managed five goals in all competitions already this term for the Addicks so has proven that he is perfectly capable of finding the back of the net.
Swindon’s one to watch is Harry McKirdy and he has been their standout player this season, chipping in with 12 goals and five assists. The former Aston Villa youngster is the man who makes Ben Garner’s side tick and is someone they will struggle to keep hold of in the future if he carries on the way he is going. In addition, Jack Payne and Jonathan Williams provide useful competition for places in forward areas too. The duo have both played at a significantly higher level in the past and inject some serious quality into the ranks of the Wiltshire club.
Crawley have some useful forward-thinking players as well who Swindon will need to be wary of. John Yems’ play a front three of Ashley Nadesen, Tom Nichols and Reece Grego-Cox, with the experienced Mark Marshall usually providing pace off the bench in the second-half in games. Nichols, 28, has scored a combined 16 goals over the past season-and-a-half and is their main attacking threat.
The Red Devils have won 10 out of 26 games this term and are sat comfortably in mid-table. They haven’t quite managed to force their way into the top-half, mainly due to conceding too many goals. Veterans Tony Craig and Joel Lynch make up two of their back three but the pace of Davison and McKirdy could cause the ageing duo some serious problems.

Tranmere v Stevenage
🏟
Tuesday 1st February – 7:45PM KO
Tranmere Rovers have the best defensive record in League Two and will be desperate to bounce back from their loss to Forest Green Rovers last time out.
Last time out was the Whites’ first defeat in 10 league games and their promotion push remains well on track. Micky Mellon’s side have players with serious quality at this level that will cause problems for lowly Stevenage on Tuesday evening.
They have delved into the transfer window to sign Kane Hemmings from Burton Albion. The attacker fired 15 goals in League One last season and injects more firepower into their ranks. He is a more prolific option to the likes of Paul Glatzel and Elliott Nevitt and has more experience in the Football League.
Charlie Jolley is another player to watch out for after firing four goals in eight matches. The youngster’s pace in behind defences has been a nightmare for opponents over recent weeks and he has had no problem in making the step up to senior football. Players like Josh McPake, Emmanuel Dieseruvwe and Callum McManaman also provide useful competition and back-up in attacking areas and can be called upon if Mellon wants to freshen up his side.
Stevenage are enduring a torrid time on the road this term and haven’t won in their last nine away matches. Paul Tisdale’s side find themselves 17th in the league table after seven wins out of 28 games this term. Boro have been dealt a blow ahead of their trip to Prenton Park with key defender Luke Prosser suspended. He picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Harrogate Town last time out. Usual midfielder Ed Upson came off the bench for him against the Sulphurites and with no other senior options available to replace him, he may well have to step in and play out of position for the full 90 minutes against Tranmere which isn’t ideal.
