Tom has provided insight at Boxing News, bet365, and Oddschecker in recent years, breaking down fights and accurately forecasting a plethora of fights that others have anticipated to be 50/50 affairs.

This weekend, Tyson Fury attempts to remind fight fans of his talent, as he ends a 16-month layoff in an intriguing showdown with Russian powerhouse Arslanbek Makhmudov, who fights in the U.K. for a second consecutive occasion.

At Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Fury fights on British soil for the first time since headlining the same venue in December 2022, and he will look to score a first stoppage win since that same date, when he halted Derek Chisora.

Here, I take a look at some of the best selections on offer for both the main event and undercard of the Netflix-broadcasted bill.

Tyson Fury to Win by TKO in Rounds 7-12

In 12-round affairs, six of Fury’s last eight knockouts have come in the seventh round or later, with his tendency to grow into contests often seeing him dominate the latter stages of his bouts.

Meanwhile, Makhmudov has been known to fade in his fights and has fought beyond the eighth round on just two occasions in his career, going the full 12-round distance for the first time in his most recent outing against Dave Allen in Sheffield.

However, what is more important to note, is that Makhmudov is yet to overcome an opponent as technical and awkward as ‘The Gypsy King’ and therefore his exhaustion is likely to come mentally, as well as physically.

Therefore, down the stretch, once the ring rust has been shaken off, expect Fury to begin to dictate proceedings and get the Russian out of there, with a TKO the most likely ending - given Fury has only one ‘KO’ to his name since 2013.

For 35-year-old Makhmudov, this is the opportunity of a lifetime, so the Mozdok-born contender will not yield easily and all 6’6” of him will be difficult to keep down. That being said, if things become too one-sided during the second half of the bout, as I anticipate they may, the referee is sure to intervene and stop him on his feet for the TKO.

Fixtures for:Saturday 11th April

Conor Benn v Regis Prograis

21:00

Conor Benn to Win in Rounds 1-5 @ 2.10

In and around the inner circles within boxing, rumours that Regis Prograis is injured but proceeding to fight are prevalent - hence the extremely short price on the relatively unproven Benn, against a two-time world champion.

Benn is also coming down from middleweight for this 150lb catchweight contest, whilst ‘Rougarou’ is a career-super-lightweight, who has not been stopped but has also not faced a puncher such as Benn.

During fight week, Benn has appeared slightly tight at the weight and he will not want this fight to last too long, seeking a statement win on his Zuffa Boxing debut. Therefore, it’s fair to anticipate a fast, front-footed start from ‘The Destroyer’ and odds-against looks to solid value for him to win inside five.

Jeamie Tshikeva v Richard Riakporhe

20:00

Under 9.5 Rounds @ 1.83

Lastly, in what could prove to be the best fight on the card, Jeamie Tshikeva attempts a first defence of his British heavyweight title in a difficult clash with Richard Riakporhe, who could become a two-division domestic champion if successful here.

Riakporhe has won inside four rounds in both of his heavyweight contests since moving up from cruiserweight and is expected to attempt to be the aggressor and take the fight to Tshikeva.

With the added weight and power, that approach will either see him score an early knockout or tire quickly and allow Tshikeva, who is an underrated puncher, to capitalise.

In my opinion, the over/under being set at 9.5 rounds looks far too high, so I’m taking on the under at 5/6, with both men well capable of closing the show.

Justis Huni v Frazer Clarke

19:00

Fight to Go Distance @ 2.20

For Frazer Clarke, this fight represents his last chance on the big stage - if unsuccessful - after defeats to Fabio Wardley and Jeamie Tshikeva, each shocking in their own ways.

Whilst Huni, who came within two rounds of defeating now WBO champion, Wardley, showed in that fight that his power is somewhat lacking, before being knocked out in round 10.

The scars of that defeat may well be evident here and I expect a more disciplined performance from the Australian, where he takes less risks and looks to outpoint Britain's Tokyo 2020 bronze medalist.

A distance bet (6/5) covers the Clarke upset for the treble, but I believe Huni will box intelligently on route to a points win.
