7/1 UFC 321 Accumulator Tips

Fixtures for: Saturday 25th October

Tom Aspinall (C) v Ciryl Gane (#1)

UFC Heavyweight Championship

21:30

Over 1.5 Rounds @ 1.73

This is going to be one of the most fascinating fights that the UFC has put on in quite a while.

Both Aspinall and Gane are at the top of their game coming into this fight; they are both quite unique to the division, and it’s going to be interesting to see just how they both prepared for each other's incredibly dynamic styles.

Now, the odds there are fairly surprising because during my analysis and tape watch of this fight, I have a feeling that over 2.5 rounds could also hit, but given that both fighters could turn up the heat at any moment after the first round, I do think that’s a bit of a riskier one to take, so over 1.5 is a quite comfortable spot despite the fact that we’re talking about heavyweights here!

So, when it comes to this bet, I do think both fighters will not be as explosive with their output as they have previously displayed, and I know that Aspinall is notorious for finishing fights within the first round.

Given that Gane is one of the most defensively sound fighters in the division, someone who utilises lateral movement and exceptional head movement, I do think that we’ll see both fighters poke and prod their opponents' defences, trying to find the right moment to switch on the turbo and go for a quick blitz or flurry.

I do not think there will be a moment in which either fighter ends the fight in the first round.

Virna Jandiroba (#2) v Mackenzie Dern (#5)

UFC Strawweight Championship

20:45

Fight to End in Round 4, 5, or Decision @ 1.53

This is also a hotly anticipated bout of mine because both fighters are essentially mirror images of each other, although they both share different discrepancies on the feet that I’ll highlight in just a moment. However, the one thing we need to keep an eye on here is the grappling moments during this fight, because whilst both fighters are absolutely fantastic on the ground, I do expect to see a lot of positional holding and stalemates.

Both will just cancel each other out when it comes to moving to different positions and advancing through the motions to set up a submission, so if the fight hits the mat, the chances of this bet hitting just increase despite the fact that it should be a nightmare for any of Dern’s opponents to grapple with her. Jandiroba’s been in that position before; she’s wrestled against Dern before and knows what she’s going to set up, so just expect a lot of control time being taken by the top control fighter (Likely Virna).

Now, on the feet, I do think that it could get interesting, but I also think we’re going to just see some sloppy striking, also. I am aware that Dern has improved her boxing to a degree, but whenever she starts off clean with her boxing, she eventually ends up throwing heavy, unbalanced strikes and it just looks a little bit funky, and whilst she is going to land a little heavier than Jandiroba due to that heavy swinging style of hers, I just don’t see it being a fight ending tool in her arsenal. Overall, I just expect this fight to hit the championship rounds with very few near finishes, with grappling moments just being the cherry on top for this bet!

Umar Nurmagomedov (#2) v Mario Bautista (#9)

Bantamweight

20:15

Umar Nurmagomedov by Points @ 1.67

This is a fairly interesting fight despite the moneyline odds being so skewed towards Nurmagomedov.

I do expect to see Nurmagomedov’s hands to be raised at the end of this fight, but there are pathways that Bautista could travel to turn the tide in this fight, although those pathways are full of potholes and tree branches.

Nurmagomedov is perhaps the boogeyman of the Bantamweight division, outside of the current champion Merab Dvalishvili. Nurmagomedov’s pressure on the feet, his well roundedness and his ability to fight at a high pace for 5 rounds is all going to be a proven factor to his success in this fight, because whilst this fight is advertised as three rounds of non-stop action, I am a firm believer that Nurmagomedov is the primary reason why there will be non-stop action as that’s his style.

He likes to get in his opponent's face and use his high-level wrestling to drag them into deep waters, never letting his opponents get away from strongly held positions, and just being an exhaustive fighter to deal with.

Bautista hasn’t faced anyone like Nurmagomedov, and whilst he may defensively be able to avoid a finish, I just think we’re going to see a round-to-round dominance from the student of the legendary Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.

Ludovit Klein v Mateusz Rebecki

Lightweight

17:55

Ludovit Klein to Win @ 1.73

I used to be a massive Rebecki fan, his style, his power, and his physicality, despite his shorter stature in the division, were all just a fantastic thing to witness, and then he had his brilliant fight against Myktybek Orolbai, and that just made added the cherry on top, really.

However, throughout his career, there was a recurring theme for Rebecki, and that was his susceptibility to getting punched in the face. He has near-zero defence, using his all-out offense style as his defence, hit before getting hit, go for takedowns before getting taken down, all that stuff.

Anyway, Klein is a monumental step up in competition, Klein has faced every up and comer in the division and has effectively shut them all down through his masterful kickboxing, his footwork and of course that brilliant head kick he often utilises, I just think that Rebecki has bitten off more than he could chew, especially since he is coming off a horrific loss against Chris Duncan, so he has absorbed a lot of damage in his career, and that’s only going to continue when he faces a woodchipper like Klein.

So, Klein Moneyline at those odds is fantastic to take. I expect to see a classic Klein win here, where he fights well defensively and just outlands Rebecki on the feet, avoiding all the wrestling that Rebecki needs to win.
