These two come into this off the back of defeats at the weekend. Brighton fell to a fairly expected loss to Arsenal, albeit they did give a good account of themselves and might’ve had a point if not for David Raya’s brilliance.

West Ham limped to a 1-0 home defeat to a Fulham side who are motoring along well.

Both will want to bounce back, and the bookies have the visitors as the favourites to do so (2.15) with The Hammers out at 3.20.

📈 West Ham v Brighton Form & Tactics

Both teams find themselves on drab runs of form. West Ham are winless in seven, whilst The Seagulls haven’t tasted victory in their last five outings.

Goals look like a decent angle. West Ham’s 1-0 defeat on Saturday was their first match to go under 1.5 goals this season, with 61% going over 2.5 and 56% seeing BTTS land.

89% of Brighton’s matches have seen at least two match goals, 56% have seen three or more and they’re second in the table for BTTS strike rate - with a hefty 67% of games seeing that bet land, a frequency that can only be bettered by Manchester United.

At 1.57 for BTTS, the bookies clearly fancy it too. It’s a fixture that has produced goals historically, with 13 of the last 14 having at least two match goals scored.

📔 West Ham v Brighton Formation & Team News

Brighton adopted a back five in the trip to Arsenal, but I’d expect them to be back in their more common 4-2-3-1 shape here. That should allow Danny Welbeck to return to the starting line-up, with Rutter able to drop into his more effective number 10 position.

Brighton remain without long-term absentees Adam Webster and Solly March. Summer addition Stefano Tzimas is sidelined with an injury too, whilst Carlos Baleba is on international duty with Cameroon at AFCON.

West Ham will likely match them up in a similar shape. Although I’d expect to see Callum Wilson back into the fold, with Bowen then able to return to the wide area, leaving a fight for central positions - one that perhaps sees either Potts or Magassa dropped, allowing Paqueta to play a bit deeper.

The Hammers have both first-choice full-backs at AFCON, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka (DR Congo) and Malick Diouf (Senegal) both playing for their countries.

Nicklas Fullkrug also remains out with an injury, and may not be seen again, with big rumours linking him with a switch to AC Milan in January.
