🟣 Potter Under Pressure as West Ham Seek Redemption
This is nothing short of a must-win game for West Ham. In truth, I think Potter will be dismissed regardless of the result on Saturday afternoon. It looks like many of the West Ham players have thrown the towel in and don’t quite gel with Potter’s ideas.
The former Chelsea and Brighton boss has made some confusing selection decisions in the early parts of the season, which have made matters worse and increasingly turned the fan base against him.
West Ham have played two London derbies at home already this season against Tottenham and Chelsea, losing these games by an aggregate score of 8-1. The mood inside the London Stadium could quickly turn sour if West Ham concede early on here.
The less said about West Ham’s transfer business over the last seasons, the better, but they still do have players who can cause Palace issues. Jarrod Bowen is the obvious threat, but the return of Summerville does make West Ham a bit more exciting in the final third.
🔵 Injuries And Transfer Turmoil Leave Palace Facing Tough Test
I can see Oliver Glasner moving on from this Palace side in the near future. I don’t think he feels that he’s been adequately backed in the summer window, and even reportedly threatened to walk away from his role if the Marc Guehi deal to Liverpool went through.
He is an excellent coach, but he can only do so much with a Palace side that has lost their best player in each of the last two windows and is facing a mini injury crisis for this game, with Wharton and Sarr expected to be sidelined - two of Palace’s most important players.
Still, Palace are unbeaten after four league games, with a win and three draws, and are favourites to win this London derby.
📊 West Ham v Crystal Palace H2H
West Ham ran out 2-0 winners at Selhurst Park last season, but Palace returned the favour with a 2-0 win at the London Stadium.
West Ham have won just one of the last six head-to-head clashes.
