Jarrod Bowen to have 1+ Shots on Target

Jarrod Bowen is the only West Ham player who can feel content with his performances across the opening four games of the Premier League season. He’s had 10 shots across these fixtures (2.50 per 90), with five of these efforts finding the target (1.25 per 90).

Bowen had three shots against Tottenham last time out, with two of those efforts finding the target. He’s usually at his best at the London Stadium and could be pivotal here, with West Ham needing all three points to stop the recent rot and secure the future of Graham Potter. The manager needs to start picking up points soon to avoid the sack.

Bowen didn’t feature in this fixture last season, which ended in a 2-0 win for Crystal Palace. However, Bowen did score against Palace in West Ham’s 2-0 win over the Eagles when the sides clashed at Selhurst Park last term.

Marc Guehi to Commit 1+ Fouls

After the intense transfer speculation over the summer, Guehi remains a Crystal Palace player, with his move to Liverpool falling through in the final few hours of Deadline Day. Guehi isn’t the type of character to throw his toys out of the pram at not getting his move, but he will have been disappointed that the transfer to Anfield didn’t materialise.

As it is, Palace have kept hold of their best centre back. Guehi has committed one foul across his four Premier League appearances this season, but I expect that to rise here.

Guehi will be up against Bowen, whose ability to win fouls is one of the most underrated aspects of his game. Bowen has won eight fouls across his four Premier League appearances this season (2.00 per 90), with the winger fouled three times against Tottenham last time out.

Guehi usually lines up as the left sided centre back in Glasner’s 3-4-3 system, which puts him directly in the crosshairs of Bowen. Bowen won 51 fouls across his 34 Premier League appearances last season (1.54 per 90).

🟣 Potter Under Pressure as West Ham Seek Redemption

This is nothing short of a must-win game for West Ham. In truth, I think Potter will be dismissed regardless of the result on Saturday afternoon. It looks like many of the West Ham players have thrown the towel in and don’t quite gel with Potter’s ideas.

The former Chelsea and Brighton boss has made some confusing selection decisions in the early parts of the season, which have made matters worse and increasingly turned the fan base against him.

West Ham have played two London derbies at home already this season against Tottenham and Chelsea, losing these games by an aggregate score of 8-1. The mood inside the London Stadium could quickly turn sour if West Ham concede early on here.

The less said about West Ham’s transfer business over the last seasons, the better, but they still do have players who can cause Palace issues. Jarrod Bowen is the obvious threat, but the return of Summerville does make West Ham a bit more exciting in the final third.

🔵 Injuries And Transfer Turmoil Leave Palace Facing Tough Test

I can see Oliver Glasner moving on from this Palace side in the near future. I don’t think he feels that he’s been adequately backed in the summer window, and even reportedly threatened to walk away from his role if the Marc Guehi deal to Liverpool went through.

He is an excellent coach, but he can only do so much with a Palace side that has lost their best player in each of the last two windows and is facing a mini injury crisis for this game, with Wharton and Sarr expected to be sidelined - two of Palace’s most important players.

Still, Palace are unbeaten after four league games, with a win and three draws, and are favourites to win this London derby.

📊 West Ham v Crystal Palace H2H

West Ham ran out 2-0 winners at Selhurst Park last season, but Palace returned the favour with a 2-0 win at the London Stadium.

West Ham have won just one of the last six head-to-head clashes.
