United’s scoring power has definitely improved this season with the likes of Mbeumo and Cunha coming into the side, but the overall balance of the side can still be brought into question.

Wolves have the joint-worst home defensive record in the Premier League this season, having conceded 17 goals across their seven matches (2.42 per game).

Wolves sit bottom of the Premier League and are currently on course for the worst-ever points tally in the top flight having picked up just two points all season. These repeated failures do create real frustration within a camp, and this is reflected in Wolves’ foul and card numbers in the Premier League this season.

Wolves’ midfield is definitely the strongest part of their team and could get them some joy here against a Manchester United side that often only leave Casemiro as the sole defensive player in the middle of the work.

Andre has been very involved for Wolves so far this term, making 31 tackles (2.86 per 90) and winning 17 fouls (1.57 per 90) across his 14 Premier League appearances this season.

These metrics suggest that Andre hasn’t really dropped his level too much this season, with the 24-year-old and his midfield partner, Joao Gomes, who is suspended for this clash, being let down by the rest of the side.

Joao Gomes being sidelined means that Andre will have an even more important role in the midfield for Wolves, with Joao Gomes being the Wanderers’ best player for the last few seasons.

I still don’t think that it is wise to have Casemiro on his own in that defensive role, as he could still benefit from a player like Kobbie Mainoo next to him. However, Amorim persisting with Casemiro as a sole holding midfielder makes him an excellent target to win fouls.

Casemiro has won 13 fouls across his 13 Premier League appearances this season (1.36 per 90) and has been hauled down in four of his last five Premier League appearances.

He’s lining up against the most aggressive side in the Premier League, with Wolves committing 14.4 fouls per game, highlighting the frustration that has engulfed the Wanderers this term. Wolves committed 30 fouls across the two head-to-head meetings between the sides last season.

Jorgen Strand Larsen has been let down by some really poor service from his teammates this season, with the 25-year-old sitting on just one goal after 12 appearances in the Premier League. In fairness to Larsen, no Wolves player has scored more than one goal in the Premier League, which is pretty illustrative of their problems at the moment.

I think Larsen can be a reliable Premier League striker and would suit a side like Everton, as displayed by the 14 goals he netted in the Premier League last season. His physical frame is a real asset to his game, and he’s also good in the air, which are both attributes that can aid him when it comes to winning a foul here.

I always like backing strikers to win a foul when I know they will be outnumbered. Larsen plays up front for Wolves on his own and will be up against three United centre-backs, offering real promise for him to be hauled down at least once. Larsen has won 10 fouls across his 12 Premier League appearances this term (0.92 per 90) and has won at least one foul in each of his last five Premier League appearances.

Whenever Manchester United are going through a tough moment, it always seems like Bruno Fernandes is the player to step up and get them out of jail. Fernandes has been dropped back a bit deeper this season, but when you watch the 31-year-old, it’s pretty obvious that he’s more geared to an offensive role.

Fernandes has registered seven goal contributions across his 14 Premier League appearances this season (2 goals, 5 assists), with the United captain earning man of the match in each of his last two Premier League appearances.

Fernandes is often worth backing for a goal contribution due to his relentlessness. Most players would lose confidence after a loose pass or an overhit shot, but Fernandes continues to create chances and take aim at the goal, which tells us a lot about his confidence levels.

Jackson Tchatchoua is expected to line up as a wingback here with the 24-year-old yet to pick up a caution this season, but this could be the perfect environment for him to pick up a card with his duels against Patrick Dorgu.

Dorgu is quite raw, but I still really like him. This is particularly notable as Wolves commit the most fouls per game in the Premier League (14.4) and are averaging 2.0 cards per game.

Tchatchoua will also contest duels against Matheus Cunha, who is also a very strong player when it comes to winning fouls and will be particularly motivated here against his former side. Cunha has won 20 fouls across his 11 Premier League appearances this season (2.36 per 90).

Tchatchoua picked up six yellow cards and one red card across his 36 appearances in Serie A last term, suggesting that his early record for Wolves isn’t totally reflective of his true aggression levels - which could be brought out here by the United players operating down his side of the pitch.
