Saturday's 3/1 World Cup Qualifying Accumulator

Fixtures for: Saturday 15th November

Cyprus v Austria

World Cup Qualifying

17:00

Austria to Win

Austria currently sit top of their qualifying group having won five of their six matches, with their closest challengers being Bosnia who sit two points behind Ralf Rangnick’s side with the same number of games played.

Austria have scored 19 goals across these matches (3.16 per game) which is more than any other side in this qualifying group. They beat Cyprus 1-0 in the most recent head to head meeting between the sides, which was a game where Austria could have had more goals with an xG of 2.14 generated from 10 shots.

Cyprus have only managed to win one of their three home games in qualifying so far, with this win representing just one of two they’ve registered across their seven matches in qualifying. Only San Marino (32) have conceded more goals than Cyprus in this group (9) which is a record that can support Austria getting over the line here.

Austria have won two of their three away matches in this qualifying group with the exception of their 1-0 defeat to Romania last time out. Austria were held to an xG of 0.16 on that occasion which is unlikely to happen here as Cyprus simply don’t have the defensive resolve to limit Austria creating high quality chances.

Georgia v Spain

World Cup Qualifying

17:00

Over 2.5 Goals

The most recent head to head meeting between these sides which took place back in October, saw Spain register an xG of 3.83 and run out 2-0 winners. Remarkably, Spain managed to limit Georgia to just one shot in the game, and an xG of 0.

Each of the previous five head to head meetings between these sides prior to that 2-0 win have seen 3+ goals, including Spain’s 4-1 win over Georgia at the European Championships last summer.

Georgia should be able to carry more of an attacking threat as the home side, they’ve won one and lost one of their home games in this qualifying group so far, netting five goals across these matches.

Three of Spain’s four matches in this qualifying group have produced 3+ goals. Spain have netted 15 goals overall in the qualifying process, with nine of these coming in their away matches. They should be able to extend that record here with Luis de la Fuente’s side looking to put some distance between themselves and their closest challengers in Türkiye.

Greece v Scotland

World Cup Qualifying

19:45

Over 1.5 Goals

This is a crucial game for Scotland and one of the more difficult on paper of their qualifying campaign, despite the Scots enjoying a much better campaign than Greece so far. Greece have only managed to win one of their four qualifying matches, conceding 10 goals across these games (2.50 per game).

On the other hand, Scotland have won three of their qualifying matches - including a 3-1 win over Greece when the sides met in October at Hampden Park. Scotland were fortunate winners on that occasion, overachieving their xG of 1.30 from eight shots and only 33% possession. Greece registered an xG of 1.66 themselves and were unfortunate not to take at least a point from the game with their 15 shots in that contest. All four of Greece’s matches in this qualifying group have seen 2+ goals.

Scotland have seen 2+ goals in three of their four qualifying matches this term, with the exception of a 0-0 draw against Denmark which was a result they had to grind out when assessing the gap in quality between those sides. Scotland can still pip Denmark to topping the group with Steve Clarke’s side welcoming the Danes to Hampden Park in the final qualifying game of the campaign.

Switzerland v Sweden

World Cup Qualifiers

19:45

Switzerland to Win

Sweden have once again been very poor during qualifying, and it’s going to cost them another spot at a major tournament which is borderline unforgivable when looking at the talent they have, particularly in the final third. Graham Potter has been drafted in to try and change the fortunes of the national team, but it’s unlikely that he’ll be able to make the substantial change required in the short time frame he’s got.

Switzerland is such a solid nation on the international circuit and regularly get to the knockout stages of big tournaments. They’ve won three of their four qualifying matches so far, netting nine goals across these games and conceding zero. That defensive record doesn’t make for good reading for Sweden seeing as they’ve only scored two goals during this qualifying process.

Switzerland ran out 2-0 winners in the most recent head to head meeting between these sides and were totally dominant with eight shots on target and an xG of 2.14. They limited Sweden to seven efforts on that occasion with none of these attempts managing to find the target.
