Wrexham v Charlton
Kick Off: Saturday 26th April at 17:30
Competition: League One
You can't say that Wrexham fans aren't getting their money's worth from their season tickets since the Hollywood dream began for them. For the fourth consecutive season their team are involved in a thrilling promotion battle, and for this match, they are facing off against a rival.
Charlton are flying, and still fancy their chances of taking Wrexham down for automatic promotion themselves.
⭐ Wrexham v Charlton Best Bet
➡️ Back Charlton to Win with bet365 @ 3.20
It is never easy to secure promotion from any EFL league, and it is unlikely to be easy for Wrexham either.
A draw here is likely to be a good result for Wrexham, but they will know exactly where they stand by the time of kick-off.
Charlton have the benefit of knowing exactly what they need to do. A win has to be at the forefront of their minds, and if they achieve it then they will take their own automatic promotion hunt to the final day.
A 4-0 win at Wycombe last week will only add to Charlton's confidence, and Wrexham have been sailing quite close to the wind in terms of their matches being won on very fine margins. They haven't been a great attacking force of late, and Charlton have a good chance here to put the Dragons to the sword just after St. George's Day.
👕 Wrexham v Charlton Predicted XI

🔍 Wrexham v Charlton Best Bet Players to Watch
🔴 Sam Smith
Wrexham’s highest shot volume player as a regular starter fires off 2.39 shots per 90. He has been a little shy in recent matches, but his home shots record is 3.18 per 90, so this situation should help him.
He has hit four or more shots in three of his six home matches so far.
➡️ Back Sam Smith to have 4+ Shots with bet365 @ 2.20 🔛
🔴 James McClean
McClean has always been a big game player and never seems to let a moment pass him by. He took the bull by the horns against Blackpool taking three shots with two on target and scoring. He looks a very generous price for just one on target effort here.
➡️ Back James McClean to have 1+ Shots on Target with bet365 @ 2.62 🔛
🟡 Matt Godden
Godden has been Charlton's main man for goals this season with six in his last eight. This has come him having at least two shots in each of his last nine matches for Charlton, with 10 shots on target in his last eight starts.
➡️ Back Matt Godden to have 1+ Shots on Target with bet365 @ 1.61 🔛

💻 Wrexham v Charlton Form and Tactics
Phil Parkinson has been the man in charge throughout Wrexham's journey through the leagues and, despite the obvious budgetary advantages, has to be given credit for the way that he has managed that budget to be so effective. Wrexham tend to be very consistent in their 3-5-2 system, with one forward usually leading the line and the other working in behind.
The width is provided by James McClean and Ryan Longman, both recently seen in the Championship, and there is a lot of experience in the midfield three as well. Aerial ability and experience are key themes throughout the lineup, and has undoubtedly had a hand in them only losing eight matches all season.
Wrexham haven't lost in the league in eight matches, but only twice have they won by more than one goal since the middle of February. They are a team who like to keep things tight and back themselves to come through in the moment. It is working for them.
Charlton are definitely one of the form teams in the division. They have won 15 out of their 22 league games in 2025, including five of their last six and three in a row heading into this clash. They will go a point behind Wrexham with a win here.
Nathan Jones currently has Charlton playing a 4-2-3-1 system, but can be flexible in switching to a back three when required. However, given their success against Wycombe last week, it seems likely that Jones will stick to that formula. Matt Godden's goals have been invaluable, but the core of Macauley Gillesphey, Lloyd Jones, Greg Docherty, and Conor Coventry have been the key to Charlton’s consistent success.
