Since taking over as Wrexham manager in the summer of 2021, Phil Parkinson has lost just two league matches at the Racecourse Stadium – MK Dons on the opening day of this season and Yeovil Town in his first campaign.  

The clubs have been on different trajectories since then, Wrexham ultimately falling short of promotion that season before a record-breaking campaign. They’re firmly in the League Two promotion race this time around.  

Yeovil survived that campaign but succumbed to relegation amid a lack of funding and a prospective new owner finding himself at loggerheads with a manager he couldn’t remove. The appointment of Mark Cooper has helped build some harmony around the camp and he has taken the team to the top of the National League South table.  

Two promotion-chasing sides in good form – this has the potential to be a fantastic FA Cup second round clash.

Mullin top scored in the FA Cup last year with nine goals in seven appearances, scoring in each round Wrexham played in. He continued that with a goal at Mansfield in a 2-1 first round win and is already averaging better than a goal every other game in the league. Another player really stepping up is Elliott Lee, who took the bull by the horns in the absence of Wrexham’s star man. The diminutive attacking midfielder is already into double figures in the league this term and is one away from beating last season’s record in half the game-time. Yeovil are a decent side in their own right, however, and have plenty of striking power of their own. Their frontline is vastly experienced but it’s 24-year-old Jordan Young having a breakthrough campaign with 8 goals, the ex-Swindon Town and Coventry City man leads the goalscoring charts for the Huish Park outfit.
